Bean-Bag Launcher Range

The beanbag launcher is silly and way too op, the range should be looked into and be reduced. I understand why it's in the game, and is completely understandable to be used in close to mid range situations but It has no reason to be able to snipe someone from a long distance.

It ruins chases and RP, drop the range!

I reckon we should all get the thing labeled as B, perfect replacement for baton launcher.
 
Now if the reload time was lowered these g6 and police in the clip above probably would have died.
And they should have been.

I didn’t actually think there was a problem with the bean bag launcher, but after watching that yeah I’d probably say it needs nerfed a bit, especially when just shooting them on the ground to keep them down is possible
 
Every officer is different tbf.
I Only bean bag if they are heading towards water.
Drinking alot of redgull but even then I let them drink a few b4 even thinking about using the bean bag.
And if they are about to get in a car after a decent foot chase.

And tbh normally after one shot u should have be down for longer this occasion u got up faster than normal (it's buggy at times) the reason u got hit the 2nd time one should have done then job tbh.

People not everyone think police always win. This isn't the case aslong as the RP is there it doesn't matter who wins and who looses it's all about the fun.
 
You recon it was fun for the other people being spam beanbagged on the floor? Ahaha, anyways, this is a suggestion about reducing the range, not your improper use of it!
We have different views, we ain't going to agree. Unless u have done the training, u wouldn't know how it's meant to be used, we will just leave it at that.


Managed to recover My POV. This was around 70 meters when u was hit, Is that considered long range? Every firearm has a different range, so IDK what a bean bag range should be when it comes to long range. The shotgun bean bag has a range of 14 meters irl.

Now the issue that may arise is when someone see someone red gulling, they may not allow them time to run if the range is reduced. So if the range is reduced them maybe not allowing people 2 drink red gulls over and over again to get away easy should maybe be considered reducing the number they can drink to 2 or 3. Let's be real irl u drink a Red Bull, u don't double your running speed. There has to be a balance.

I like the idea thats been suggested here about keeping the range but making it one shot before having to reload it
 
Following a situation yesterday, I had some discussions concerning the balance of the bean-bag launcher. An idea that was raised was to have it not use the same 'taser' effect.

In essence, the idea would be to have it just knock someone over, but not have them laid on the floor for x time like the taser.

As it stands, the bean bag launcher is an objectively better taser (fire rate & range), with limited ammo (although 22 shots is still plenty for most cases). The idea would then be for the bean bag launcher to maybe only play the tase effect for i.e .5s (or maybe 1s, or 2s, just not up to the extreme levels that we have right now where you can be forced to be on the floor for 30 seconds straight), to make the target fall onto the floor, as if "knocked over from the impact", but be able to get back up almost immediately. This would then make the taser & beanbag launcher serve different purposes. Taser would be for non-lethally incapacitating people when you wanna go for cuffs, whereas the bean bag launcher would just be to knock someone over to i.e. prevent them stabbing someone, buying others time to get away from whatever weapon the target may have.

This would make people go through ammo quicker (so you wouldn't be able to keep someone down for minutes on end), thus making the limited ammo a bigger factor to deal with, whilst still making it a very worthwhile tool to have with you to non-lethally incapacitate someone.

I understand the reason the 'taser' effect is (probably) used currently is that getting hit by one of these would "knock the wind out of you", and immediately getting up and running on might be a bit odd, especially after taking a few hits - but in the interest of balance, and making the taser/bean launcher serve different purposes, I think this would be a good way to go about it.

TLDR:
Taser = short range infinite ammo non-lethal incapacitation
Beanbag launcher = long range limited ammo 'buy some extra time', as opposed to full on non-lethal incapacitation
 
just make it a one shot with a slow ass reload time, like 4-5 seconds or something, would stop the spam use of it (I also kinda like @Deacon 's suggestion in making the knockdown time not the same as taser but maybe 1-3 second knock down time) that way by the time the beanbag has been reloaded the suspect would be up on his feet and they can run away or fight back or something, cause tbh even from a police perspective when I see people getting spammed on the floor with the beanbag gun I get second hand embarrassment cause I know the person/suspect has literally NO chance of escape unless they have like a full squad ready to back them up
