I have been waiting to get this PC for ages now and have finally about to order all the parts and build it, i cant wait. I am sick and tired of running arma 3 at low on about 30FPS on a good day. Before I order all the parts I wanted to see if anyone else could think of anything I can add to the build. Definitely a 250GB SSD for the OS. 120GB is too small IMO as windows itself is around 40+GB and there will be things that you accidentally/deliberately install to the ssd as well - there isnt much between the min price so 250 is the better option.

Dont forget a GOOD quality power supply, at a minimum it should be rated 80+ Bronze. Do not skimp on this. The PSU is the one componet that's attached to EVERY other component, you want a good one that isnt going to surge,blow and take your nice new computer with it.

I don't see a CPU cooler in that list either. Arma is a cpu intensive game and the stock intel cooler is laughable. It will do in a pinch - but spend the 50-60 quid and get either a decent air cooler (beQuiet Dark Rocks or Noctua DH15) or a good Corsair All-In-One closed loop (I have the h80i GT)

Good choice of GPU though - the twin frozr is very very very quiet. I love mine.

As @Zeitgeist0190 said. But if you need to save a extra few pounds 120gb will be fine as long as you keep your computer tidy :)

 
Oh and while not *required* having a mate on hand to help you with things like the cpu cooler (most aftermarket ones have to be bolted in from behind the mobo) just makes it simpler.

When buying a CPU cooler - especially a big air cooler like the DH15 - MAKE SURE YOU CHECK HOW TALL IT IS. I did not and of course it didnt fit in my first case. Bitten once, twice shy.

I have added the parts that I have forgot to put on the list, i had them all in a word document and forgot some bits. This I have added A couple of bits to the list now

Good choice of cooler - they really do emphasise quiet. you WILL need someone to help you fit it though, it weighs a effing tonne. Someone will need to hold it while you bolt it or vice-versa. Oh also invest in a tube of 'Arctic Silver 5' thermal paste. The Dark Rock might not come with any and you WILL need it. AS5 is one of the best on the market. Make sure (though i imagine its fine) the Cpu cooler Height is within the case limits. My Dark rock was 165mm and my case at the time only took 160mm max. so the side didnt fit.

I would change the M500 120gb drive though, they are legacy and discontinued. Crucial's current line is the MX/BX200. A 250GB drive is £70 inc vat and crucial are usually free delivery, or you can stick with 120 for £53. I would be keen for you to invest the extra 17 quid for double the space because if you fill the 120 and want a bigger ssd, you're gonna have to buy it anyway. No point in paying for the 120 only to upgrade it again down the line.

Modular PSU is a good choice - i really wish i'd gotten myself a modular one at the time so i didnt have a cable nest in my case.

I'm not sure what you've put the above list together with, but i would also recommend you get it all from one place and triple check everything is compatible - particular motherboard and cpu pin sockets. Aria and Scan charge pretty high shipping (for me anyway) You might consider checking Aria and Dabs for their pre-built bundles. I got my Asus ROG board, an i7-4790k and 8gb vengence pro for £450 from dabs, or Aria do pre-assembled mobo/cpu/ram bundles with an overclock supplied and warrantied, all you do is bolt the mobo into the case.

Thanks for the help I have one of my friends to help me build it anyway, I have checked my case and it all fits so everything should be ok. I am still thinking about the SSD but I am more than likely to go for a 250GB. I am using PCpartpicker just to get everything together but i have not decided where I am going to order everything yet.
