AMD processor

I'm looking for a better AMD processor since the current one I have is a AMD FX8320 Black Edition 8 Core, which I think is not able to run arma 3, in towns like kavala I get around 25-30Fps and outside towns I get around 30-40 depending how populated the server is. I'm thinking of getting a new processor but don't know which one would be prefect so I would get steady frames around 40.

Just check out some of the build threads on here, ppl quoting their frames, If you r looking for a processor for Arma3 go Intel
.

So your looking for new mobo, CPU and potentially RAM. Say how much money you have to spend and they will put something together for you :)

I've got everything I need processor is the only problem I have, I don't want to go Intel because I would have to replace alot of things.

Ive got a FX8350, overclocked it a little bit and it runs ~30 frames in Kavala on high settiings

If I were to overlock my fx8320 how much would be the appropriate so its doesn't overheat and did you by another fan or use the stock one?
Bought a watercooler from Cooler Master, I only upped it to 4,5 instead of the normal 4,0

I have the amd fx 6300 6-core clocked to 4.3gz with a cooler master fan (only £20) with medium-high settings, if you dont want to spend extra money on hardware just lower some settings and tweek things around... youll be surprised what amd offers you just gotta clock things up and make sure you have enough cooling.. 35-45 frames kavala and 55+ frames anywhere else

I've da stronk Fx -6300 @ 4,4 GHz ,custom settings with 20-30 FPS Kavala and the whole spectrum all over the island,If you want stability i'd recommend getting a SSD,that helps stable frames a lot.(I'm usin 5 yo MOBO and 10£ polish made cooler, the CPU sits at max 50C,so very cool).

(My voltage is 1.28 V,a golden chip I could say ^^)

((My system overall is very arma unfriendly,Fx 6300,7200 RPM 4 yo HDD,8 GB 1333 Mhz CL9 RAM,Gigabyte GTX 750))

You probably have the best one IMO. The FX9000 series needs extreme cooling and is very power consuming. really its VERY power consuming if you oc it. If you want a better cpu go with intel. i had this problem too (previous owner of fx6100) and intel made all my problems go away, especially in arma. if you dont want to invest in intel, because you will need a different mobo OC your cpu but don't even bother going with the 9000 series.

Try to overclock your CPU first, you can even overclock with your stockcooler if you don't have a better one, just don't go too high.

I had a AMD FX8120 before. I was getting a lot of fps drops in Battlefield 3, then I overclocked it a bit and I got much higher fps and no drops.

Actually probably the best idea here, if your prepared to buy a new cpu anyway you have the opportunity to push it right to the limit : D would be awesome to see how far you could push it.

True, but if you don't know how it works you may break it.
If he doesn't care about that go for it!
But I always like to keep my old parts for like a new build or as back up.

It's not actually that easy to trash your cpu nowadays, there are so many tools to oc. But if he is prepared to shop around there is no issue with trying it out.

Just don't slam the core voltage up to the max at the start

Thats true, I never broke my AMD when I was overclocking, only a few bluescreens haha.
I did alsmost break it when I was installing my new cooler, when I took the old one off I ripped the cpu out, it was stuck on the cooler.
I don't know how it still works, think I was lucky.

That actually hapens more often than you think, once I pulled one out it was so solid on the heatsink it took a vice and a chisel to remove it......  I shit you not. I was kinda worried about damaging that one :)

A quick Google will show you it's quite common, adding a little oil can help as well but seldom works in my experience
