Alternator Computer Build

750 Ti is perfectly fine for playing Arma 3 along 4690k,I own a Gigabyte Gtx 750 and it actually runs Witcher 3 1080p @ 30 FPS medium settings no post processes,so 1 GB is fair enough ^^.

If you want fluent Arma experience definetly concider a SSD and remember that Gtx 750 or 750ti can't SLI ;)

If you don't play many other big games the 750 won't be a problem right?

I still have a Asus GTX 660TI OC 2GB.
Have it for around 3 years now, recently upgraded my CPU to a i7 4790k with a Cooler Master Hyper 412S as cooler.
I get around 30 / 40 fps in kavala, 50 / 60 just outside bigger cities and around 60 / 80 everywhere else.

Basically I do not plan to just use this for arma, I do play many other games which do require a good gpu as well as cpu, E.G GTA V, Just Cause 3, Battlefield. After decision making, I am going to try and get the 970, as I was going to get that after time however I would rather wait a little longer and get it at the get go. The 4690K and a GTX 970 are a very good combination, especially if you plan on overclocking.

I also get around 50 / 60 fps on GTA V, not max settings tho, but at 1920x1080.
But if you wan't to play more games your better off with a 970 yes

Yeah, like I said I was always going to upgrade to the 970, I also do play many BETA and ALPHA games which are not optimised (cough, DayZ, cough).

Then go for the R9 390...,better GPU overall + it has 8 GB of VRam instead of 3,5 <3

And if you're going either for 970 or r9 390(this is a slightly better one) get a better PSU,500 W is not enough for them + 4690k

I am already going to get the CX600, not because the 500W is not enough, it is just to make sure I have some left over for overclocking. Lots of people think you need like 800+W PSU however for this system I would only need 500W. The only difference would be that you are using most of it so in tern it would run hotter, That is why I have opted for the 600W. And as for the GPU, you did get me researching, and the R9 390 is a good card however it is only by a couple FPS it wins over the 970, The extra VRAM would help with rendering however in games, there are not many that would use the full 8GB of the card, so in my case 4GB is enough, I am going to get the 970 because I much prefer nvidia its self and have never had experience with AMD, and also the 970 runs less hot and that is important in a case this small, and I will get the benefit of ShadowPlay (this alone wins it for me) I know there is other game capture softwares out there however there are not any this good that are free and take no FPS off of games. However it is a very good suggestion as it would be good for rendering with OpenCL with that 8GB.

It doesn't run hotter, itentirely depends on the aftermarket cooler, on the other hand it sure does draw more power, and yes,the 500W is good enough for Gtx 960/R9 380 level cards ,if you want anything better You're safer and overall better with at least 550 W ^^.

Sure the shadowplay thingy is useful though I personally hate the GeForce Experience app,I much preferred my good ol HD 7750 over the Gtx 750 but it broke 2 weeks before warranty went off.Anyway It'ss up to you what you go for,I'd still suggest the R9 390 but you're right on shadowplay may be  worth theese couple FPS less for some people ^^

P.S.
For example my good ol' copper dial up internet is bad enough to make uploading a short 3 minutes shadowplay video a 6 hours long upload,so I just live without it :>
