I am sure many people as well as myself have had there car pick locked a lot recently since the new imports have arrived i thought of a upgrade we could buy from bennys or los santos customs where we have advanced locking which if we bought it for our cars it could prevent pick lockers or at least make it harder for people stealing 9 times out of 10 if i take my import out and park it for 5 mins it gets lock picked and stolen just a suggestion to try and bring this down a bit 

 
I agree lockpicks are to common which in my view isnt exactly how real life works and there never seems to be any consequences for stealing a car so either remove lock picks or make them extremely rare or as this guy said bring a feature that can prevent lockpicks. 

 
Could also introduce some form of immobiliser upgrade. Once the vehicle is lockpicked  you must then get into the vehicle and complete a hacking mini game to disable the immobiliser if the upgrade is on it 

 
If you remove lock picks how will people open locked doors or open shop safes? 
Again its to easy to get lock picks making robberies in general easier when the representation in real life isnt like that, yes shop robberies are frequent but not with lock picks. Im not suggesting removing lock picks completely im saying maybe make them very hard to get because like he stated car robberies happen so much and theres no punishment to them its just ill go impound and get it back and its a huge pain in the ass so it could be hsrder to get lockpicks or add a new customization where your car can't get robbed or gps trackers in cars so you can go find it 

 
A security upgrade would be good.

I also think there should be 2 stages to lockpicking. 

1) To gain access to a vehicle (trunk, get in the car)

2) Ignition hotwiring

Currently it's too easy to steal a car but a two-stage process if you want to drive off with it would be far better.

In line with the original OP, upgrades to slow either or both of these processes down would be good.

SMS notification to owner? 
Chance of alarm sounding during the lockpick process if upgraded?

 
Again its to easy to get lock picks
it is easy to get them or something similar in real world heavy duty paper clips, hair pins and small screwdrivers as examples. I wouldn't say they are easy to get now with new store system

Ok so how often does your car irl get stolen on a daily basis? I think thats the point here is that cars get stolen far to frequent with no punishment for it and its always a ballache for the owner of the car

 
yes but you said remove lock picks or make them harder. there is a lot more reasons lock picks are needed

also lock picks don't work on most cars nowadays it's all fancy electrical stuff

Detailed Suggestion:

The current lockpick system is far too easy and also lockpicks are super cheap. Let us add an additional security system in the mod shops for our cars that costs a lot, maybe like 100K? To picklock these cars, it should be a different harder mingame, and picklocks should randomly break while picking cars, or maybe give us an alert on our phones that the car is being picklocked. I have a very nice import and every time I park it publicly for more than 30 minutes, it gets picklocked and stolen. By making the mod expensive, not every single car will have it, so it will be fairly balanced.

The Pros:

More realistic

QOL

Less griefing due to the cheapness and easiness of lockpicks

The Cons:

Time to code in

When i said remove i ment from local shops they shouldnt be that easy to buy and especially as cheap as they are. Its so easy to steal a car with absolutely no punishment for it as its such a ballache when it happens to you the ammount of times i go to fishing for example go down to check bait come back up and my cars been robbed is ridiculous so i do think something needs to be done

😑 Ok let me put it this way when you walk into your local shop do you see apples, oranges bananas them lockpicks? No! What im saying is they are far to accessible for anyone to get hold of and to steal a car so easy. If you can't see that then your one of the people who goes round lockpicking peoples cars and trucks (full of items)

ok i think you have misunderstood what i ment when i said "local shop" i didnt mean an AI shop i ment it as a local corner shop or your local petrol station not local as in AI 

 
Even making it so that it doesn't lockpick in 2 "picks" is still an improvement, for people like myself who try to run the trucking yard by lockpicking and disposing of the lorries that are abandoned, even I have to admit that it's really easy, at least lockpicking a safe required like 4 or 5 which took that small bit longer

 
We have increased the difficulty in a recent update.
