Admin Kick for using VPN/Proxy.

Member
When trying to join the server I get kicked for using a VPN/Proxy, although I have no VPN running or even installed on my PC.

I did move since I was last on the server and now live in an apartment complex. Restarting router has no effect.

Edit: This is not limited to this PC, it is the case on all computers connected to this Network.

Edit 2: I tried Tracert to 8.8.8.8 and there is nothing battleeye should pickup as a VPN or proxy, the connection is as open as it can possibly get.

I believe i can help, on the PC, im assuming your using windows, search on youtube how to turn LAN off on PC windows (whatever you have) this should solve the issue.

If this isn't a bug, I assume you have a solution?
I do not as it is enforced by an external tool and is a staff matter, it's nothing to do with the dev team so I moved your topic to somewhere where the staff team can respond to you.

I could alternatively have locked and moved the topic to rejected issues if you had preferred?

Rusty spoke to the staff team and they told us to send the post in the bug report because "it's the Dev teams job" they said. So staff sent us to you and your sending us to the staff.. Who can we talk to to get some god damn help.

I have now talked to 3 different staff members and  I have been told "Make a bug report" So I did. I have been told "you need to talk to a developer" So I tried to contact one. I have been told that staff would take this to someone that knows how to deal with it because there is nothing they can do as a staff. So I waited.

I'm sure you can understand my frustration in this situation when there apparently is no one capable or willing to help me.

Developers only touch Internal tools and the actual Altis Life Server, we have no control over how the staff team use the tools they have setup internal or external, these staff members are incorrectly redirecting you, if they're unsure they should be escalating it up their chain rather than throwing it to us.

Which member of staff was this?

Official line on this...

Battlemetrics decide which IP addresses that attempt to connect to us, are on VPNs or other proxied IP addresses of an untraceable, suspicious or otherwise undesireable nature.

We simply opt (and pay) to use that technology.

Battlemetrics in turn, purchase or outlease the service of deciding which IPs are on that list, to a third-party company. I have no idea which one that is, but I do know that Battlemetrics general response when queried about this will be to defer to either that third-party company, or back to us for a whitelisting.

We have a standing policy - which is not going to be changed - that we do not whitelist incoming IPs to the server, where those IPs have been detected as being VPNs.

Your best hope is to

  • speak to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) about why the IP address they've given you is on a VPN or proxy list (they should know; if they don't, then maybe think about changing your ISP).
  • speak to Battlemetrics and find out the third-party company who provides them with the VPN list, and then contact that company and request an investigation/removal.
Beyond that, sorry to say, there is precisely nothing we can or will do to unblock VPN-detections - this is a protection for the rest of the community.

Thank you for your reply.

Ill have a word with my ISP, and see if they can clear this up.

Bit of a followup question regarding this, didn't wanna make a separate post when it's also about this specific topic (Also having this issue). I've heard that this might result in an instant ban from the server, is that the case with this one or can I simply connect once I manage to get this issue resolved?
