Why were shipwrecks disabled?

I believe (I very well may be wrong) they were unoptimised and contributed to performance issues (As I said I may be wrong).

I hope they return!

I never got to do one unfortunately! Would love too if they come back in the future?? 

 
I used to do them as a hobo, it's a nice way to start off. Bring back shipwrecks!

 
They affected server performance and they were buggy
