Key chain them, but tru, should bring it back, keychaining is a lot harder.

Bringing it back would have more cons than pros. 

Just key chain it quicker next time and you should get the name. (Even though this is meta gaming, it is the only other way that would prevent mass meta gaming// scroll wheeling)

 
It is is fair point, however in this video particular, had you used the y menu a little bit earlier you would have gotten the name rather simply.

I'm neutral on this point, I like the advantages that hardcore mode gives us, however it would be nice to be able to tilde key these fools.

I agree about it coming back but blame Bohemia not ALUK. They removed it from ArmA entirely.

 
Some hobos are good and some were bad. It was luck which got to you first.

A more basic solution to the VDM problem would be to change the VDM message to "Since you were VDM'ed by X, you did not die."

This message wouldn't show in the case of a vehicle on vehicle situation, only vehicle on player.
