Why the NHS needs Barriers...

Mystery

Banned
Ok so it was suggested that I move this to a public place for all to see so here it goes!

OK... Situation...

I came across a traffic accident earlier involving a car and a wall.

I helped the patient and he was sent on his way (in an RP way of course!)

Now I had the task of the mess his crash left on the road!

A large dirt mound covering the width of the road... Any car to hit it at speed would be written off straight away, causing more work for the NHS!

So I done what I thought was the best option available... I cordoned off the whole road with barriers so that no car could enter and crash!

I contacted the police about this and told them what I was doing, now I heard no reply or objections so I assumed to have permission and proceeded with my work.

Heres the result of what I think is a good use for the barriers and it only took a few mins to set up!

The NHS will keep there barriers if they remove them after they have finshed.

At the end of the day the police control the roads and have the power to remove a barrier or place them if there in attendance.

What i dislike seeing is barriers left around the map, its an extra object on the map... a extra object the server needs to load ;)

No offence but it's not a paramedics job to place down road barriers, cones ect.

And I have found that some paramedics when they where able to buy them in the shop, they carried a lot of them and when or if they died in a car crash or heli crash (which I have seen way too many times...) civs/rebels just come along and pick them up and start placing them on the highway.

In your case if you logged off or walked away and forgot those were there a civ/rebel would just pick them up and run off and start trolling with them which is why police have strict rules on carrying the objects.

i dont get it.. why do you block a perfect road and then not the one where the hull is ? and if this in athira as it look like. is little bit stupid to block the main and only road in to athira when there is nothing wrong with it

I fully understand Wilco! I ALWAYS clear up barriers when I leave an incident. Unless it is like this one where I cannot clear up debris on the road... This is the only time i will leave barriers in place! As I believe that they can stop further accidents happening in that location!

Yes I understand PC Shadow but when police cannot be bothered to even turn up I feel I am left with no other choice than to do your work for you...

PC Deleter IF you looked at it properly and READ the post properly! I stated it was beside the main road!!!

Secondly, I blocked off the other bit because it was an access road to the scene! Another way people can crash into a dirt heap...

Shadow, using barriers to block traffic accidents such as in Mystery's screenshots is not the only use for medics, if anything the main reason for a medic to use barriers is for their own safety when it comes to tending a casualty that is on a busy road, in which case the medic can cordon off that section of the road only (one side of the road so as the other is still open for traffic to go through) so that they can ensure their safety when attending said casualty so that no oncoming car will accidentally hit the medic as he is reviving.

Just going to say this,

Never leave barriers there when you leave no matter the incident, they can be picked up by civilians and used to troll/lag the server.

You full blocked off roads which is not needed and you do realise if they hit the barriers with the cars they blow up anyway, use them to protect yourself but other than that dont use them for that sort of problem

You are not a police officer, you do not know what we have to deal with daily, so no your not doing our work for us, we have a lot of things to do, and only 20 police slots, stick to being a medic.

That's not my problem when civs pick them up... As it has been stated I am only a medic... If the police did their jobs correctly then I wouldnt have to use barriers...

Correct I am NOT a police officer but when I do see POLICE OFFICERS standing about in their little HQs fart arsing around then I have to wonder what do you all actually do?

We only had 4 slots at a time... didn't see medics complaining about the work load!

All I am trying to do is ease that work load for everyone. Police just want to complain because they can't be bothered to do anything else it seems...

I think this topic may be getting a little out of hand imo.

I personally would love to keep barriers although I don't use them myself, but it can really add to Role-play.

I can understand the reasons why they don't want barriers just left unguarded due to the possibility of abuse.

I think with some clear ground rules, there shouldn't be a problem for medics to have and use them as well as the police, albeit for different reasons. medics almost purely RP and police more practical reasons.

I can see why the police are getting annoyed that you are technically doing their role and complaining that they arn't doing their job well enough, I have been on patrol with police (part of a rescue operation for my hemmt) and have to say they have a extremely difficult time. and it would be very easy for a misunderstanding to occur.

It is getting out of hand but I will not back down from this. I will not bow down to people who don't do their jobs unless it means they get to kill someone... some RP that is.

I have been using them responsibly and yet all the police can do is think "oh he must be abusing them..." well fuck that!

The majority of RP I have seen the police do is only when they need my help... Until then they don't want to know (with the exception of a few officers).

If they are worried about civs picking them up then get a script in to make sure civs can't do that...

The police may have a difficult job but its not like the medics have an easier job... You try RPing with someone who is crying about a sliced open bumhole and suddenly lost all memory of how it happened and then faints... Then you get officers crying about a grazed knee because they want a lollipop!

Well no more! I put up this post and the pictures to show an idea of how barriers can be used for the good of the servers, (oh yes trolls etc... They can troll with anything tbh... Ifrits mostly. These stop Ifrits dead in their tracks btw) and all I have got is how its not my job, well i agree but yet when police are too LAZY do even bother sending a text to us about whether or not they can attend an incident then I took matters into my own hands... Don't like it cops? Do something about it... I challenge you all to actually DO YOUR JOBS and respond to medics when told to!

Heh heh, hardest case I ever had was second day on the job and had a police officer swimming down the road insisting it was a river !!

I was somewhat flustered and had trouble keeping up with that one :D
