Welcome! In this thread, I will be arguing for why I believe Tanoa deserves its own server as well as personal ideas for the terrain. I want to ask everyone to keep it civil and constructive. Let's get started, shall we?
The main concern is popularity of such a server, and wether it suits an RP-environment. I personally believe a majority of players will be getting the expansion, similarly to Operation Arrowhead with Takistan Life, which was a standalone game. And given the popularity of RP servers in ArmA 3, players may be looking to find an RP-server for Tanoa.
Moving on, Tanoa is an archipelago located in the pacific based on Fiji, meaning the terrain has a lot of vegetation. The area spans more than 100 square kilometers, which is around five times the size of Stratis (at 20.3 square kilometers) and close to 33% of the area of Altis (at around 270 square kilometers).
Transportation between islands would most likely be with boats, air vehicles or amphibious vehicles, meaning vehicles like the Strider could replace the Hunter for the police. Therefore it could be a good idea to place ports and garages together around the island, to make switching between vehicles a whole lot easier to do, so that you could mine gold (a major export of Fiji) on one island, bring the vehicle to a port and load up the resources on a boat and take them to a refinery on another island, then do this process until you reach the trader. Given the maritime nature of the environment, maritime police units would also play a bigger role.
Housing would not be as prevalent as it is on Altis however, as stated in the dev-diary, Altis felt "empty", and therefore not every building will be enterable, however if the server owners do want to place buildings around that can be bought, then that could be an option.
Any thoughts? Ideas? Feel free to come with them!
