Why can't my computer handle altis life? (specs included)

Hey!

I know that asking a question or a favor isn't the best way to introduce myself, and that I should probably have done something for the community before I stroll in and start asking questions, but I really want to get this figured out as fast as possible so that I can get back to playing.

when I say can't handle I mean that I'm on 15-30 fps which isn't nearly enough for my spoiled standards. I've tried couple of those FPS guides but didn't seem to help out that much. I've also lowered in-game video settings to low/disabled on almost everything. Still not that much better.

I love your servers and I'm considering to give a donation, but it is just demotivating to play with all the fps lag.

If there is any other information you need to determine what might be the cause of this low fps then please ask for it!

I have heard that the Arma games needs better focus on CPU rather than GPU. My CPU isn't that good, but is that really the only way I can make it better? and if this is the case, then do you have any CPU's you recommend that fits with my motherboard?

Tbh you'v not got a bad rig there, you've got roughly same specs as myself (just different parts but same performance) gonna take a stab in the dark and say if you're playing campaign your getting anywhere from 40- 60+ FPS on med to high, but soon as you join Altis you hit around 20- 30 FPS on the same settings am I right?

The thing is with Arma multiplayer compared to its singleplayer is, the single player only has to load in a pre-determined amount of objects (Infantary/tanks/Ifrits etc) all done by the CPU which is a fairly easy task, then the GPU kicks in and makes everything loaded up look pretty. This is massively different on altis life as the CPU has to load everything in the server (assuming why the dev team has removed the wildlife less shit to load) using more power than really needs to be, Then the GPU has too work extra hard to make everything you see pretty as well. Hence why just after the restart its good frames  because the cleanup script has gotten rid of all the crap left over from the last session.

Sadly there is only one permanent answer to get batter frames, is a better rig :/

There is a quick fix for this though and that is to shut down a lot of the background programs, you may get 5 more FPS outta your build but not much more, but DON'T go shutting random stuff down read into what the program does first before you turn it off otherwise could fuck it up rather badly.

No doubt its the CPU... lower your in-game settings and see what fps you get then.

Whats your settings now ?

 
The best performance increase I have had is using the tweak adjusting the pre rendered frames and the max frames ahead. I would recommend changing those and balancing then right

 
What i can see @ this moment and what i test my self. Its your processor. Beleave me what i gonna say. I had the same processor and changed it to I5- 4660. For arma you dont need a powerfull I7 thats bull you only gain +2 FPS. So dont do that.

Turn off PIP because that will grab your framerate by the balls. Not only that raise draw distance to 16000 and put object distance to 1100-1500. Because AltisLife ( and many other modes) have a setting that limits draw distance you are able to tweak settings to make sure you get optimal FPS and viewing experience.

 
Download something that can monitor your cpu and gpu, play for a while and see how much you use, after that simply adjust the settings.

I get more fps having graphics set to standard and high than low. Don´t ask me why..

And on altis u get amazing fps when the serever has just restarted, but near a new restart it will be bad

Do you have the game installed on your ssd? If not do that. Don't know how it is in arms 3 but in arms 2 the speed of the hard drive could make a quite big impact on performance as the game constantly used the hard drive loading stuff.

Have seen comparison videos on YouTube between slower and faster hard drives and thought it was quite a difference.

As said above either your CPU or settings.

I've got an i7-3770k with a GTX 650Ti and a shit monitor and I was getting 42 fps while recording in Kavala. My settings I just left to the crazy nvidia tool which makes them the way they should be. It's pretty much on ultra.

 
I run both gpu monitor and cpu monitor and only use both at around 40% :(

Hopefully getting ssd from wife for xmas

I think its hilarious that y'all have gaming rigs for shitloads of money and im just sitting here on my laptop that costed me rougly 400€ with 30-40 fps daytime (20 if its bad) and 60-70 fps in night/morning time (since low amount of players online)

Well I'm glad your happy that my 3 children couldn't eat for a month just so I could afford a computer to play arma.
