Where's the grey bit at the side?

As you may or may not know, I am not very good with ICT...
Which means I am strugglign to work out where the grey bit in the top left corner has gone??!!

Usually it's only like that when you're in restraints I've noticed, are you sure you haven't bugged your game out by logging out while in restraints (obviously not intentionally) or anything of such nature?
