Apologies if a thread has already been made about this, I did have a look but couldn't find one.
I often find a common problem with the Mechanic Jobs, both from a Police perspective as well as a Mechanic perspective.
From my Mechanic's side:
This afternoon I logged on to do some mechanic jobs before storm for a little extra money, I spent my time driving to a police impound job, only for the car to not be there. I then removed this job and moved to the next, which also wasn't there! Ended up just doing local jobs, however I believe this is an extremely common issue.
From my Police character's side:
I impound cars as and when I can, to help keep the city clean and make a little extra cash, but often enough I will impound a vehicle, turn around and suddenly it's been nicked. I think this happens to more Police impounded vehicles than not. You then get an annoyed phone call from a Mechanic who has wasted their time and won't get paid, they then beg you for compensation but I shouldn't have to pay that out of my pocket! Police often do not have the resources (and frankly shouldn't have to) wait around for the Mechanic to turn up.
From a Criminal's side:
I don't think we should be making it impossible to steal impounded vehicles, however I believe it should be harder.
Suggestions for making it harder:
Police have no way of "re-locking" a car once it's been impounded, odds are if we have impounded it then it's an unlocked stolen/broken local car. I have a few ideas on how we could improve this.
1 - Wheel clamps (the most logical)
Wheel clamps! This could be a physical item added to the police armoury, but it could also just be an extra "animation" when impounding a car. This would essentially "lock" the vehicle by making it immovable, thus detering criminals from just getting in to drive to wherever they need to go.
2 - Relocking cars (debatably logical)
If the police had a way to relock the car, e.g a padlock & chain to put through the door handle or something then this would also deter people from just jumping in and driving off.
As mentioned in my criminal section, I don't think this should make it impossible to take the vehicle, just much harder (especially as if a vehicle has already been hotwired you can just jump in and drive off). I think adding an additional pick locking stage to one of the above options could fix this problem. For example the Police issued Wheel Clamp/Lock would need a "5 stage" pick locking sequence (like the police cars/doors). Alternatively, resetting the hot-wiring would also be a good idea, so the Criminal has to pick the 5 lock wheel clamp, then the 2 lock car door and finally the hotwire minigame to steal the impounded car.
I found the below script online from a quick Google Search, I know nothing about FiveM server modding/coding so apologies if it's not suitable, just a suggestion of how it could be done!
I would love other peoples input on this subject, from all perspectives involved in the matter, so please share your thoughts!

[ESX/QB/Standalone] Wheel Clamp Script
Hello and welcome! I came with untraditional script with special custom props into FiveM. Its a wheel clamp for GTA V cars (add-on cars too, but it can be buggy sometimes, not tested on every add-on car, some of them doesnt have boneId on wheel… sad, FiveM is FiveM and creators are creators)...
