Ahh they were mucking about and the computer got knocked over.

Now just displays a black screen with no error code. after removing the GPU using onboard still no screen, this points to a ram issue. replaced all the ram with known working stick, no luck. Removed the board fully from the machine and ran it outside to ensure no screws/junk had been lodged behind it, there was nothing.

Cheers though :);

Well ..... FUCK FUCK FUCKITTY FUCK FUCK FUCKER !!!

My wife has just informed me when I was querying why my server wasn't online, that she unplugged it this morning without realising and set off a shit load of alarms and assumed I would not want to know !!!!! It is a headless unit and tbh i really cant be fucked to stick my head in the stairwell to try and plug in a monitor tonight, nothing absolutely nothing good will come of it.

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

it is not my day ....... :(

I shall be sticking my head in the sand till tomorrow !

you should just remove the wall faceplate of the socket for the server, and wire it in on a Fused socket. Like your oven. Or fridge. Then wifey can't unplug it to vaccum or whatever it is they like to do around the house.

Hmm I may have a AM3+ board going soon dependent on if I can get some thermal paste sorted as I forgot to get some when getting new cpu and mobo, its not a premium one GA-970A-DS3P.

Or just put masking tape over it like I do

Very good ideas acrually, I used to use ross's idea when the kids were smaller and the server was on ground level, and the amount of changes in a rented property have to be realistic ;) but generally she is never near the server area, its just that the wii was in there and she was trying to swap it over with the pi, it will sooner or later go upstairs.

It's a digital thermometer, yellow is powering it, Left green is taking data to the Pi and the resistor is powering it (4.7k Ohms resistor). The red is connecting it to 0V. Right green and blue are taking the 0V and 3V from the Pi.

@Dylan I've never used Open Elec or Kodi. I tried using OSMC for a bit but it messed up entirely. What makes it so good? I'm curious

I specifically use my Pi on my main TV as a replacement for the vast majority of the paid sky channels, well cause fuck paying full price for sky.

Basically it's a home cinema thing I'm using and it's just really good for throwing on the TV, Like i said it has all the sky channels, all the movie channels, all different footie streams and other sports streams.

If you are interested it's very easy to setup and you have pretty much access to everything with some of the addons on there, an addon for everything.

https://seo-michael.co.uk/

Reccomend that site for addons if you are interested, the only issue I am having is that the Pi, obviously not being that powerful sometimes takes 30 - 60 seconds to swap pages.

nice to see some pi builds here :) I've kept all mine basic and using them as media centers, Having spent money on all the paid for alternatives I got so pissed off with them trying to control what I watch, I got Kodi & Genesis (Spotify for film & TV pretty much). Never looked back although still waiting for a legal alternative.

This might contribute to the 400Gig plus in downloads I do every week, although this doesn't explain the 20Gig up ....

Genesis yes!

Shame I constantly get No stream available on Genesis on a lot of tv series

Popcorn time and eztv viewer are also good.

Used to use Icefilms, then switched to Genesis, and currently trying out Phoenix... Many great addons created for XBMC / Kodi.
