VPN for ping

Hi guys.

I was wondering if someone could help me.

would a vpn to the server help my ping to join the server or will it just not do anything.

If it will help how do I set one up?

 
Sounds quite ridiculous, a VPN is basically you connecting to a server somewhere and then through that you're connected to the internet, while you can see the whole internet, the internet only sees you as that server. VPN's are used to get through restricted internet from your ISP, or perhaps country based blocked content. And then for anonymity. Connecting through another server to connect to any server would do the opposite of reducing the ping, it would increase (however dependent on quality of the VPN how much) since it add's another link to the connection.

unfortunately as stated a VPN will just hinder you more so, i suggest you try to get a better internet package or join a different service provider as already stated.

What sort of ping are you getting and where are you from?? I believe Server 2 or 3 has a higher limit of 300ms, but it's only used as overflow. The servers are geared towards UK/EU so if you're further afield, you'll likely run into ping issues.

As @Lemmen explained - a vpn will increase your ping end-to-end and some VPN public IPs may be banned on the likes of TS etc.

 
I would not recommend using VPN'S, they are kinda bannable due to the fact modder's use them often.

There were words going around saying that VPN's are bannabale because people use them to avoid bans but I asked a staff member and they confirmed that this is not true. 

 
Yeah I was told by staff not long ago as well it was bannable if not approved by staff. Huh thats strange,

VPN wouldn't help since you are connecting to a vpn server to connect to RPUK, so your ping would get even higher... 

Try using WTFast but ask staff members first, thats the only useful one.
