Vehicle and people spot markings on the map

I ignore them but I wonder what the rules regarding them are. Just a few minutes ago I decided to see if they get added to the map despite not having LOS of the marked vehicle/person and sadly yes their last known position gets marked on the map.

This means its easy to abuse when searching for targets. Would it be possible to turn it off serverside?

I definitely see it as metagaming using the markings. If you haven't seen them yourself, your character shouldn't know about it.
