VDM

Hi guys. I have a little doubt about VDM rule.

Guess that i'm trying to rob someone and he just dont stop. I'm telling him to pull over and trying to do some roleplay, but he keeps driving as fast as he can.

It's considering VDM if i just cross my car in front of his car to stop him and rob him ?

I'm just questioning cause it happens on real life, so i'm confused about this rule in this particular situacion

In real life you wouldn't risk your life by letting the person you're trying to rob smash into your car when you're driving it. So yes if he is trying to pass and you start driving your car to block him and you end up hitting him it is considered VDM. What you can do though is park one or two cars along the road to create a roadblock and then it will give you enough time to shoot out their tires if they don't stop (of course you have to tell them to get out or they will be shot first). Can we have someone else clarify because I'm not the real expert here on VDM rules :p

Heres the rule:

3A) VDM - Vehicle Death Match Definition:

Using your vehicle for running people over, using it to ram into other vehicles in and outside combat, using a vehicle with the purpose of making it explode are all considered a form of VDM here (Punishment is a ban)

However using the following vehicles to immobilise each other (eg. Hunter VS Ifrit or Strider VS Ifrit etc) is permitted in roleplay for whitelisted factions or people in ownership of a rebel membership - Hunter/Strider/Ifrit

I'm not saying just right in front on him.

I'm telling like giving some time to slowdown a bit, but force him to stop the car by crashing. Not even close of an explosion. Ofc, before it crashes, all the drivers of the robbing car are already out of the car.

@RendoirS This is one of those grey areas.

I think technically as long as you don't collide / crash into each other, it's fine.

I've once successfully stopped a truck by boxing it in with 3 other vehicles and very, very, slowly coming to a stop.. however, it's not hard for the person who is getting boxed in to just allow a crash to occur and then claim VDM.

Sadly when it comes to trying to stop or slow down a vehicle with your own vehicle, there is an element of trust between the two that neither of you will deliberately cause a crash, sometimes, that trust isn't there and you could end up with a forum report with your name on it. It usually just isn't worth the risk.

Personally, my favourite tactic to stop a truck is to use spike strips and a few friends. I used to follow trucks shouting at them to stop, maybe firing a few warning shots into the sky (someone on the back of an offroad). After a while I'd either pretend to crash or stop following them. In the mean time a friend of mine is setting up a spike strip trap further along the road.

The amount of drivers who gain a false sense of security after someone stops chasing them is quite interesting.

I know that not everyone has spike strips available to them, but my point is really, don't risk a report / ban regarding the VDM rule, be smart and setup a nice little trap, sometimes blocking a road with no exits for a truck to easily escape works, as it gives you time to shout down the mic for them to stop and if they don't, shoot out the trucks wheels, or while they're stopped, you can park another vehicle behind them to box them in completely.

I wish we could do the pit manoeuvre on here but with the crappy car physiscs its impossible. Imagine having a mod that could let you do the pit manoeuvre though!

I think the safest way to stop the car is to warn them couple times, than pass them with an offroad and couple guys in the back, and just shoot the tires with a gun. I think its the ONLY way
