Upgrading Computer (What Next)

This is my current build I've had since November 2015

I feel like it can do better and I'm happy with it currently however I think it runs quite hot and the parts take a lot of space for the case being really big. Looking for any recommendations or any tech heads out there.

Quite a nice build there, what you looking to get out of an upgrade?

4K resolution, 144hz monitor, Vr headset ???

Performance, really. I already play and run at 144hz on my Monitor. It supports 3D as well not that I will ever use it, as for 4k gaming it's interesting but not something that I'm too worried about. Just feel like my PC could be running better in terms of temperature and well I don't know really. Even for this build I only get around 70-80 FPS on Triple AAA titles. Perhaps at one stage I am thinking about getting a Dual Monitor Setup so that's something I want to look into and how to support and build at it from what I have got. Also possibly upgrading my GPU. @lionel

well so far, heat = give your computer a good clean :D works wonders .... (you can buy compressed air online, or carefully with a hoover and paintbrush slowy brush all the crap out and hoover it up as its floating about).

Dual monitors you can already achieve with your current setup, and for 144hz monitors, its worth considering the following technologies
G-sync (Nvidia & propitiatory costs extra)
Open Sync (AMD & is open source so much cheaper) you can also already utilise this with your current hardware.

have a read here http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/nvidia-g-sync-or-amd-freesync-pick-a-side-and-stick-with-it/

hopefully this leads you slightly better informed rather than more confused.

I did that recently buying some compressed air and I believe it did make quite a significance, I will eventually buy another of my current monitor Asus VG248QE 24.0" 144Hz Monitor, but not sure on how easy they are to setup in this mode. @lionel

its very very simple. Plug them both into your graphics card (make sure you have enough connectors first!!) and it should automatically detect and enable at the native resolution. If not, press Win+P and select "Extend".

Did you have to google that shortcut? I can never remember that one xD

Also Saul, adding on to what lionel said, if your new monitor comes with a connector type which your current monitor uses the only port of that type, you can buy an adaptor for it if your gpu has different ports on it.

Nah I used multiple monitors before it was cool (win98) and was used to doing it there already 🤓

Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 4GB Tri-X Video Card DVI-D Dual-Link: 2, DisplayPort: 1, HDMI: 1 (I currently have my DisplayPort connected to my Monitor) So how does the adapter work which one would you plug it into and because it's an adapter will make things worse? Will both Monitors still display 144hz 1080p? @lionel

Just realized he has X2 display ports on his GPU so it doesnt matter, @CMO Marc Smith can you remove link from quote as it is not necessary, cheers

DisplayPort Master race.

Also Open Sync? Was it not called free sync? Isn't that a *shudders* amd offering?

Also @El Saulto add about your spec:

It all looks good to me, I have a similar build and performance is generally extremely good. For lower temps, you could reapply fresh higher tolerence thermal paste. It genuinely does pay off to get something that's £10 a tube like Arctic Silver as the standard offering from intel is total pants.

The CM212 is a good cooler, but you could look to replacing it with a larger cooler, such as a BeQuiet DarkRock Pro. They're exceptional.

He is currently running an AMD card, and the monitor is compatible, I have never played around with *freesync so couldn't tell you if it wil drive X2 monitors at the same time, but why would you ant to ? your game is only going to be visible on 1 monitor therefore only needs to run on 1 monitor
