Unban Appeal for soonfi11

In-game Name: soonfi11

Server: GTA RP

Steam ID: 76561199233073125

Ban ID: !!rpuk10252!!

Reason given for your ban: C2.3

In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: I believe I was banned for combat logging during a roleplay scenario. I can't entirely remember the roleplay scenario, but I know what I did was wrong and it broke the rules of roleplay for the server. I do remember trying to join again to continue the roleplay, but I was already banned permanently.

Why should we unban you ?: I regret combat logging and understand now that it ruined the experience for the other roleplayers. I feel an unban is fair as it has been a number of months, and also I have not been able to find a similar roleplay experience on other servers. I miss this one, and would love to continue roleplaying here. With a fresh understanding of the rules, I can make sure they won't be broken again. I apologise for what I did, and hope you can help me prove I'm a valuable addition to the server by issuing an unban :) Thanks for reading

Please confirm that you have read the unban appeal process and rules: Yes

Why appeal now, and not after it happened, what’s changed?

What have you been up to since the ban?

Thanks for the response,

Initially I didn't realise the ban was permanent. I appealed just now since I took some time away from roleplay and GTA in general for college work. During this time I would often watch roleplay streams (of other servers) and come to realise the importance of proper roleplay and how seriously I should take it to ensure immersion for everyone. It reminded me of this server, and I remembered I was banned. I tried looking for similar experiences back in May, but I couldn't find anything that was worth talking about, none compared to this experience. I do regret my actions, and could ensure that nothing like this would happen again.

Since the ban, I've been working up until recently, and have now finished my studies. With more time on my hands since May, I've been exploring different games I could play to pass the time and was reminded of Roleplay.co.uk through streams of similar servers. It's made me realise that I had a lot of fun here, and I really regret my actions for improper roleplay. I strive to take it a lot more seriously if given the opportunity!

@soonfi11talk me through the situation that led to you combat logging in as much detail as you can remember and tell me why you decided to break such an important rule?

I think what happened was I was driving on the highway and a group of bikers stopped me and we roleplayed a little around that, then however that ended I can't remember, but I do remember being killed and dumped either in or near the ocean. I was left there, and I believe thats when I logged out. That could have been a separate scenario to the one in question, I really can't remember as its been a while.

I had assumed that you could log out if left alone, but that was just my misunderstanding, and I should've known better. I see thats not allowed after reading the rules again recently. Apart from this, I think that was all that happened. I didn't log out mid roleplay with someone in front of me, but I understand that what I did may ruin the experience for NHS, police, and even the people who had killed me just by me disconnecting. It would not happen again.

So you have combat logged more than once in your time playing the server?

I didn't log out mid roleplay with someone in front of me, but I understand that what I did may ruin the experience for NHS, police, and even the people who had killed me just by me disconnecting.
Correct, it has implications on the roleplay for all parties involved including possible roleplay with NHS etc. Logging out whilst incapacitated is also a way of exploiting the respawn timer as it extends it until you log on again when it resets which could possibly mean you would be saved afterwards when you wouldnt have before hand changing the entire course of the roleplay scenario.

I want you to do the below for me:

  • Quote me the rule you have broken from the rule page
  • Explain it in your own words.
  • Tell me why you think it is an important rule on the server.

So you have combat logged more than once in your time playing the server?
No. I've logged out in the past shortly after roleplay scenarios, but these times were at the hospital after I respawned, which I believe is okay unless there's something I missed there too.

You're right. I hadn't realised about the timer, so what I did was understandably worse in my eyes now, apologies.

  • Quote me the rule you have broken from the rule page

"(C2.3) Combat logging - Logging out at any point during RP is exploiting. Some examples of this include: logging out during a firefight, being chased by the police, arrested by the police, while dead awaiting a medic, logging out in order to save gear, rage-quitting, logging out whilst restrained/detained. Punishment is a permanent ban. Staff can make an informed decision depending on if you’ve made an attempt to resolve the issue. We do suggest you attempt to rejoin the server and continue the roleplay (try messaging them with the mobile system first)."

  • Explain it in your own words.

Combat logging is when a player disconnects from the server during a roleplay scenario. If I was in the middle of an RP scene, such as a fight, or interacting with emergency services, this is a combat log. It can be interpreted as leaving to keep items, or abuse respawn timers, and is a punishable offence.

  • Tell me why you think it is an important rule on the server.

It's an important rule because it prevents players from ruining the experience for other players on the server. If I was dead somewhere in the city, and decided to leave, I have ruined a potential scenario for NHS staff, and other authorities, or anyone interested at all. It also prevents people from abusing the respawn timer, and keeps all users immersed in the experience on the server.

On a side note, if I do get the opportunity to play again, I would be happy to have everything wiped. I see  that's often the case. Thanks for reading.

Are you sure you have not logged out whilst downed at any point before the situation that led to your ban? Honesty is the best policy here.

As far as I can remember, I haven't broken RP by logging out other than the situation which I believe led to my ban. As mentioned above, there have been scenarios where I've logged out in the hospital after I had respawned.

From checking briefly I have found at least 2 other instances where you have logged off whilst being downed. Does this jog your memory any?

If I could see them somehow, or you could maybe expand on them in any way, I'd love to explain them. Given that it's been 9 months, I just can't fully remember my every move on the server unfortunately.

Both times you have logged out whilst downed and logged in at a later date and respawned.

It shows me that this was something you did regularly.

How can i be sure given another chance you wont end up back here for the same or similar rulebreaks?

One more question. WHY did you decide to combat log?

Well, if that is the case I do apologize. As I said, it's been a while and I can't remember the exact specifics, but I know that combat logging is punishable. It really deters me from doing it again, as I know exactly what it carries now, as well as ruining the experience for others. So I can guarantee that I wouldn't be back here looking for unban for anything.

As for why I combat logged, I genuinely cannot remember. I do recall being dumped in the ocean. That's all I remember. I hope you can understand that it's difficult to remember events from this far back, and can see that I do regret what I did, and apologise, and can guarantee it wouldn't happen again. I feel like I could be a good addition here if given the opportunity for a fresh start. Thanks for your time!

Alright then.

I am willing to give you another chance on the server.

Be advised that as per FBS any further rulebreaks within a 6 month period of your unban will result in you being put straight back to a permanent ban in which you will have to appeal. I suggest you re-read the rules before logging on.

Don't let me see you back here!
