Unban Appeal for Saga_of_John
In-game Name: John McGowan
Server: GTA RP
Steam ID: 76561198170021728
Ban ID: !!rpuk10109!!
Reason given for your ban: G.2.9
In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: I transferred money from one character to another.
Why should we unban you ?: When I broke this rule I did not understand that I was unallowed to do so. This is not ignorance of the rules, I knew of its existence, but I was under the belief I had staff permission to make this change.
I approached a staff member whose name I can't remember and informed him of my issues with my current character. While drunk with friends I joined the server and named myself John Manlove, I had fun on the server and decided to return the next day. Only after an RP scenario did I realise what my name was and I attempted to have it legally changed, to which both a solicitor and a Judge named Ellis Karsaerian informed me I either had to go into witness protection, get a marriage or get a divorce. After my friend refused to marry me to clear up the issue I decided to approach staff and detail how I could not roleplay further without it appearing that my character was a joke and not a serious one. The staff member informed me to simply delete and transfer as a name change was unlikely. However, after further discussion with the senior staff, I was able to get a one-off name change. The fact this was rare and one-off was made clear, which influenced my further actions. Later on that day I got out of the hospital after being robbed and murdered where I realised the face of my character was extremely unserious and something that would not be roleplay acceptable (I had been wearing a mask and glasses up to that point) I informed one of my other friends what had happened and said that I was taking the staff advice to recreate the character and continue on with my RP. As such I committed the breaking of rule G2.9, not in ignorance of the rules but a misunderstanding of the permissions given to fix the issues I had created on my first joining. I have had a clean record elsewhere, including a successful application to LSPD and multiple interactions across the server without any issue. I was in the process of beginning my final test as a Probationary officer and I have committed time and effort to the server since the incident that I hope portrays that this was in fact an error of my judgement and not a deliberate attempt to undermine the administration team.
I am happy to forgo the money, I believe around 160 thousand pounds, and take any other punishments that are seen fit, but I just wish to continue my time on the server and progress in LSPD as I have been doing prior.
I would also like to make clear this blame is not on the staff who helped me with the name change, but on my interpretation of what was said, the fault is totally on myself and not on anyone else, including my friend who I convinced was allowed to help. Thank you.
