Reason given for your ban: C2.2
In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: I was banned due to finding a bug/exploit while in an ongoing situation with police and not making anyone aware of it at the time. This breached rule C2.2.
Why should we unban you ?: Firstly I’d like to start by thanking whichever staff member takes the time to read through this appeal.
C2.2 is a rule that is in place for exploiting. To “exploit” in this particular situation means to use a broken game mechanic to my own advantage. I would like to start by stating clearly that this was never my intention.
The situation that caused me to be banned comes from myself and a couple of friends out robbing on the server. While we were in a situation with an individual we were robbing, Adam Busy saw myself and others with guns out. This caused us to get a lot of police attention and a chase began.
Myself and the others made the decision to head back to our turf where we could try and defend ourselves, but this plan quickly changed and we found ourselves at the Chapel. We headed down to the basement of the Chapel and decided to hold our positions, in case police/firearms decided to also breach into the basement as there was only 1 way in or out.
It was while being down in the basement that myself and others were messing around and I ran into the back corner of the room. It was then that I found the exploit that would allow me to see around and above me and in this case would give me an unfair advantage over the officers that were chasing us.
Stupidly, instead of removing myself from the corner, I instead decided to investigate it a bit more out of pure curiosity. I just want to make it clear that while I was being stupid doing this, I didn’t once comm to any other people that were there what I could see. Due to the time, I was just being silly and what I thought was just messing around. Now I can understand why these rules are in place because if I did comm to the others what I could see that would have given us a huge advantage over the police, stripping away the fun for both sides I try to provide.
I stopped messing around in the corner and got back to seriousness again, holding down our position again watching the only entrance and exit to the building. Again, I did not once tell anyone else what I could see while messing around with the bug.
I know now that what I should have done when I first found the bug was mention it in OOC chat to make staff aware as well as make a bug report on the forums. Unfortunately, I do not have any clips from the situation as it is not something I would have thought to clip as I just thought I was messing around and didn’t acknowledge the severity of what I was doing.
As can be seen by my record, my last ban was for NVL this time last year. I would like to believe that since then I haven’t gotten myself in trouble (maybe a few notes?) and I have done my best to stay on the correct side of the rules. Exploiting is not a rule break I intended on breaking, and it was very foolish of me to continue investigating the bug when I realised what it was doing.
