Unban Appeal for Mack Daniels

In-game Name: Mack Daniels

Server: GTA RP

Steam ID: 76561198801991554

Ban ID: !!rpuk14112!!

Reason given for your ban: G1.2 & C1.7 - Player Report

In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: I was given a permanent ban following a situation where I failed to provide enough time for the other party to comply with my demands. I shot out the tires of the police vehicle and failed to provide creative roleplay with the constable which is the reason behind the G1.2 and C1.7 ban.

Why should we unban you ?: It’s sad to see that this is now the second time I’m making an unban appeal in less than a month, and I can only apologise for my wrongdoings and the lack of creative roleplay that led to my ban. In all honesty, I am upset with myself and deeply regret that I failed to improve the overall quality of my roleplay after returning from a six-month break, and after hoping to do so for so long.

The roleplay provided by myself wasn’t enjoyable - it was nothing other than of a poor standard and nowhere near the quality a whitelisted gang member such as myself should be aiming to provide. I would like to make it known that this wasn’t directly intentional, and at the time I was focusing on not getting caught by the police instead of ensuring both parties had an enjoyable experience. There were simple ways I could’ve spiced things up, for example creating conversation or not being so mundane throughout the interaction. This is something that I should have done.

This isn’t the roleplay that people experience day in and day out from my character. Since my return I have made a continuous effort to participate in pieces of strong roleplay with other characters and different factions, and I don’t know why I failed to maintain this high standard throughout the duration of the robbery.

After being allowed back onto the server after a serious rulebreak which landed me a 6-month cooldown, you may be asking, what went wrong after being back for just 20 days? The mishap that brought me back to this page held no malicious intentions. It was a lapse of judgement, had I not acted so quickly I wouldn’t be writing this appeal. The matter of just a few seconds changed everything. This is a lesson learnt for me.

Although it was a lapse of judgement, that is no excuse. Following the robbery, I was conscious that I may have been in the wrong for resorting to shooting out tires after such a short period of time. In the moment however, I thought this was a brilliant alternative as it allowed for the roleplay to continue whilst presenting the level of threat we upheld in the situation - and it likely would’ve been had I not acted in such a short amount of time.

Now, I assume you may be asking something along the lines of, why would I open a ticket claiming my ban was unjust, only to open an appeal... What changed? With all honesty, at the time I thought that it was an unjust punishment. I couldn't see how shooting a tire would get me punished, and so I was unsatisfied with the outcome of the report. After talking to members of the Hustlers, other members in the community, and taking time to think over the incident further, it made me come to a realisation that my actions and the consequences that followed were not unjustified, but rather fair. I understand that, although my intentions weren't in bad blood, the situation played out to only make it enjoyable for the party who received items - and this is not how roleplay should be. Roleplay should be an interesting experience for all involved.

In the report, you asked me and the other involved parties questions and raised a few points in your final response. I feel it's important to answer those in this appeal to show you I have taken the time to think upon the situation and where I went wrong.

Firstly, "Why not take the time to come up with a creative plan?" As a group, we had a few ideas to ziptie the officer and perform a talent show after taking his items so we could provide him with a unique encounter instead of the usual boring robbery. However, I let the intensity of the situation get the best of me, and I valued my freedom and fleeing in the incident as opposed to providing enjoyable roleplay for all of us to enjoy. I understand the recent update involving gun meta has had a negative effect and has led to an increase in police robberies, and so it should be a priority to create a satisfying roleplay experience for all sides to enjoy before leaving.

Secondly, "Why not be more prepared for this situation?" This ties in with the previous question. No matter the intensity of the situation or the outcomes that may follow, I should've treated it the same and provided a strong piece of roleplay, as no items are as valuable as the experience and interactions you receive from other players throughout your time on the server. As a group we should’ve been prepared for the officer to flee.

In my previous appeal I mentioned how I don’t go out of my way to intentionally breach the server rules. This point still stands. Although it may be hard to believe with my short-lived return, I understand the importance of the role the rules play on the server in terms of the serious roleplay the RPUK staff team strive to uphold.

If I am allowed to return, I would always take steps to ensure that in all situations, from robbing smoothies to having casual interactions with others, I will provide roleplay to a high standard and not allow the intensity of the situation nor an item's value reduce the quality of roleplay I aim to provide.

I would like to take the time to apologise once again to the Roleplay.co.uk staff team, I know I have let you down by breaking the server rules after being welcomed back into the GTA RP server. I can promise I have learnt from my mistakes and take steps to ensure you don’t see me back on this section of the forums again.

Thank you for reviewing my appeal. Mackintosh.

Please confirm that you have read the unban appeal process and rules: Yes

Hello @Mack Daniels
How are we today? 🙂
I hope we're doing well!

Now onto your beautiful appeal here.
Firstly, thank you for putting so much effort into it, it's appreciated and it goes long way to confirm to us that you truly wish to be back.

I'd like to ask, are you saying this in hopes it's what I want to hear, or is this as honest as you make it?
I think we can both agree that whitelisted factions or whitelisted gangs should always aim to provide the best roleplay they can, you as a player should have the same amount of fun as the other party involved. - At the end of a day we're all here to have fun in our free time, what at that night was different to your usual robberies / attacks on police? Was it a mistake? Heat of the moment? Do you think the other party was having fun? Or as close of fun as to you guys?

You do seem apologetic, but I've a feeling you still don't understand your own actions taken in this situation, do you think you had enough time away after your little vacation of 6 months? What were you up to in that time? What changed? How have you the player matured?

Did you at any point during this appeal use any AI to generate your message. or is this truly yours off the heart?

Once again thank you for putting time into your appeal.

Hello there @Mike, thank you for your response.

I'm doing great thank you for asking, how about yourself?

Firstly, thank you for putting so much effort into it, it's appreciated and it goes long way to confirm to us that you truly wish to be back.
I am grateful that you read through my appeal and recognised the amount of time and effort that went into it. I put the effort in to demonstrate to you, the staff team, and the rest of the community that I am fully aware of my wrongdoings and understand the implications and how my actions effect others that play here. I felt like this effort was necessary to get all my points across and explain my side of things as concisely as I could, I value my place in the community and hope the effort I put into the appeal reflects that.

I'd like to ask, are you saying this in hopes it's what I want to hear, or is this as honest as you make it?
As I mentioned in my appeal, to begin with I didn’t see where I went wrong as I had no malicious intent with my actions. This led to me opening a ticket in hopes for a second opinion from the staff team. Over the duration of the ticket I had lengthy conversations with a staff member regarding the incident, this was in the hopes to gain an understanding of the rules and why action was taken in this specific scenario. The messages sent in this chat provided me with a finer insight into where I went wrong that night, which helped me to reflect further on my actions and made me understand how I was on the wrong side of the rules in this instance. I appreciate the chat I had with the staff members in this ticket as it helped me understand and enabled me to reflect on my situation.

Following the ticket, I replayed the scenario in my head and processed the different ways it could’ve been handled using both the external feedback given and my own ideas. I missed multiple opportunities to improve the scenario and to provide an interesting interaction with the officer involved. I should've made more of an effort to ensure the interaction would be immersive and enjoyable for both parties, however I didn’t, which ruined the experience for the police officer involved.

At the end of a day we're all here to have fun in our free time, what at that night was different to your usual robberies / attacks on police? Was it a mistake? Heat of the moment? Do you think the other party was having fun? Or as close of fun as to you guys?
In all honesty, this was a mistake. I could attempt to argue different excuses but I feel like in this instance I should just accept that I can do better. I panicked in the scenario and felt myself losing control over the situation and it caused me to act in a rash manner but ultimately I made the decision too fast without thinking it through properly. I know I can do better than that.

Our usual robberies would ideally consist of us taking the hostage to a secluded area, where we can have the opportunity to focus on providing a fun roleplay experience for the other party to enjoy without the worry of police intervention. In the past, we have created a fun experience which involves a minigame between our hostages. For example, making the hostages perform in a talent show or taking part in a minigame such as Simon Says.

I can see how this incident was not fun for the other party. The roleplay we provided was dry and all-round unenjoyable - it was not up to the standard that should be expected by a whitelisted gang member in any way shape or form. There was multiple opportunities we could’ve taken to create a more interesting scenario, however we failed to implement these into the ongoing scene after losing control of the situation. In my opinion, it wasn’t anywhere near as enjoyable as it could’ve been for us either. Both parties would’ve had a much more positive experience if we had taken the time to transport the hostage to a secluded area.

You do seem apologetic, but I've a feeling you still don't understand your own actions taken in this situation, do you think you had enough time away after your little vacation of 6 months? What were you up to in that time? What changed? How have you the player matured?
I completely understand where I went wrong in this situation. Although there were various factors that came into play throughout the robbery, our sole focus should’ve been providing a strong roleplay experience for all parties to enjoy. I resorted to shooting tires far too early, when I should’ve given an ample amount of time for the Firearms officer to comply with my demands. The interaction only went downhill from there. The roleplay provided by myself was nowhere near the standards of the high quality interaction you should expect from a whitelisted gang member. Overall, I should’ve focused on ensuring the other player had an enjoyable experience too, by taking my time and making a better effort to create conversation both before and during the robbery.

Over the 6 months I have been gone, I’ve made an effort to stay in touch with the Roleplay.co.uk community whilst keeping myself entertained by playing other games and trying out new servers. Initially, I looked at other FiveM roleplay servers, however my search came to an end after being unable to find a fun roleplay server which matches the standards of RPUK so I resorted to party game servers with other Hustlers. Over the 6 months, I also played other games including CS:GO, House Flipper, BattleBit Remastered, and Rainbow Six Siege. On top of this, I spent a lot of time away from my computer either going to the gym or on nights out with my mates.

I have also had time to reflect on the actions that led to the punishment and how it negatively affected the community. I have begun valuing the experience of other players on the server, however this change has not been reflected by this punishment. I would say I was out of practice in terms of roleplay, however the last thing I want to do here is create excuses upon excuses. The lapse in judgement I had throughout the robbery is something that shouldn’t have happened. I can only apologise for my actions.

Did you at any point during this appeal use any AI to generate your message. or is this truly yours off the heart?
At no point in this appeal have I used AI to assist me with my writing or to generate the message itself. This appeal is truly written by myself, and as you said, from the heart.

Hello @Mack Daniels

You're just off of a 6 month stint, I don't see or understand why you'd put yourself back into a position where you have lost the option to play on this server. I must say, I appreciate the effort and detail that you're putting into your appeal. Although, I am stuck on one issue which is what I stated above...

I understand that you've been away for 6 months, and that your Roleplay may have fallen off but then again there are others who leave the community for X months on their own to return but are still able to provide High Quality Roleplay.

I am almost tempted to put in some faction conditions for you to see if your roleplay gets better, or continues to spiral. I will chat with @Mikeregarding this.

For now,

Please explain what you would've done differently, and how you could've made it a lot more fun for everyone involved and not just yourselves for a quick hold up and loot.

Hello, thank you for your response @Liam

I don't see or understand why you'd put yourself back into a position where you have lost the option to play on this server
In no way did I intentionally put myself in that position. The series of events that played out that day did not consist of me planning to break the rules nor ruin another player’s experience on the server. I am ashamed that I was unable to maintain control of the situation and failed to remain calm and collected while dealing with the incident. Again, I apologise for this and take full responsibility for my actions.

there are others who leave the community for X months on their own to return but are still able to provide High Quality Roleplay.
I completely understand your point here, and there is no reason that excuses me from having the ability to do the same. Upon my return I wanted to provide continuous, strong pieces of roleplay however that was put to a stop when I acted recklessly.

I am almost tempted to put in some faction conditions for you to see if your roleplay gets better, or continues to spiral.
Although this is something I wouldn’t want to see actioned upon myself, it is whatever you think would be best and I understand that this could be a consequence of my actions.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that I have provided pieces of quality roleplay in the past throughout my characters, including Mack Daniels and Danny Hart. Danny was a Gruppe6 officer with mental difficulties who strived to protect the prison and the various other premises he was assigned to. I feel I played the character well and shared many laughs with other members of the community over my time playing him.

Going forward, I would like to look at making a return to Gruppe6, creating and sharing many more enjoyable and funny moments with the players I meet. I would also like to continue with improving my roleplay standards across all of my characters to ensure I don’t make further mistakes like the ones that landed me here. As a criminal, I will look to create more immersive therefore enjoyable experiences with the people I meet and interact with throughout the city. Where possible I will take the time to ensure I am prepared as can be for planned interactions including robberies, gun deals, and much more. This is not only to prevent myself from ending up in the same position I am in today, but to also ensure I am providing a captivating experience for all those involved and my roleplay is not cut short due to lack of preparation.

Please explain what you would've done differently, and how you could've made it a lot more fun for everyone involved and not just yourselves for a quick hold up and loot.
If I was able to recreate the incident leading to my ban from the beginning, I would change multiple elements of it including how we began the interaction, and the roleplay that happened throughout.

Firstly, I would look at changing the way we initiated the robbery - as opposed to directly approaching the subject, we could have waited for him to refuel his vehicle or be in a stationary and vulnerable position. This would’ve limited the risk of the crime, reducing his ability to flee the scene. Furthermore, we could have kicked off the interaction with something other than “Yo… get out the fucking car now!”. Possibly some general conversation with the officer, to lower his suspicions of a robbery?

Another detail I would change is the amount of time I gave for the officer to comply with my orders. I gave him a very small chunk of time to acknowledge and consider the options he had to choose from. It is important for you, the aggressor, to give the other party time to react to demands so they can carefully think through the ongoing roleplay scenario.

I would also change the fact that we were unprepared and how we robbed him in the middle of the road. Had we been fully prepared for the incident, we would’ve had the opportunity to take the robbery to a quieter, more secluded area. Had this been the case, we could’ve been more patient and provided a higher quality of roleplay as should be expected from a whitelisted gang.

As a whole, to create a more enjoyable experience for all involved I could’ve implemented a number of things, such as more conversation between ourselves and the constable and, if we were to take him to a hidden area, excelled with our roleplay by being able to take our time and potentially host a talent show or something similar, as highlighted in my previous reply.

Hi @Mack Daniels

If I said that you'd have to play 'Danny Hunter' the G6 man for x amount of hours per month, what would you say?

Hello, thanks for your response @Liam

If this was a condition put in place for me to make a return to the GTA RP server, I would be happy to comply with it. I find Danny Hart to be an enjoyable character to roleplay on and I’m sure those I interact with do too. However, I would like to ask if my police character would also be applicable to this condition? And, how long would this activity requirement last for?

I would like to mention that my character was removed from G6 following my 6-month ban. I'd be more than happy to re-join though.

It does not matter if it’s Gruppe6, Police, NHS but we’d like to see you branch out into different avenues as we know you are a good roleplayer but you let yourself down.

I am still waiting on a chat with @Mikeabout the duration, and how many hours you’d need etc

Hello @Mack Daniels

I've spoken with @Mikeand we've decided that you would need to log 3.5 hours a week for 2 months on a different character that isn't 'Mack Daniels' that is in a Faction such as:

  • Police
  • G6
  • NHS
  • Solicitors etc...

Do you agree?
