In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: Use of the 'N' word.
Before this goes any further and you start laughing at my appeal, I'd like to declare as early as possible that I am in fact black. (Yes, I am now aware this doesn't excuse any use of the N word whatsoever on the Roleplay.co.uk franchise)
Now we can proceed.
Why should we unban you ?: I am NOT racist, this was not a racist incident. I do not condone, tolerate, or endorse racism whatsoever, so to have the word 'Racism' under my name when I attempt to join the server genuinely breaks my heart.
After having a friendly chat with Mr Magnet I was informed that use of the 'N' word is considered racist and not tolerated whatsoever, mainly on the basis that this is a roleplay server and anyone can choose to be whoever they like - meaning for example, a white male can play a black female and vice versa etc. So to stomp out anyone using their in-game skin colour to justify use of the word, the server administrators have made a cohesive decision to rule out the N word entirely, which I do actually appreciate - immensely.
However, still being quite new here and also a black male not only on the island, but also IRL too - I had no idea using the 'N' word as I would in my day to day life, was against the rules.
Yes I do understand the rules, especially after my temporary ban incident - and yes I am aware of the strict zero tolerance of racism that there is here.
However in our community we don't consider use of the 'N' word racist when we use it to describe anyone (be them black or not) I genuinely used it as a synonym for 'people' or 'guys' in that situation with Dr Magnet.
I'm roleplaying a Black driller (roadman) and once again I must reiterate I am indeed black IRL, so this was an innocent lack of specific knowledge - I don't remember seeing anywhere that the 'N' word was completely ruled out, and I'll reiterate that Dr Magnet has now informed me of that and I completely understand why. (I have also been in scenarios whereby I've used the word and reiterated to the people I was talking to that I am ACTUALLY black (not coming OOC, as I am also black on the island, but just expressing to them that I am GENUINELY black so that they don't feel uncomfortable or any feeling of the sort)
As for the RDM in question, even though that's not why I was banned at all:
When myself and Mr Magnet spoke in the Roleplay.co.uk Discord after Merek placed the ban, I explained to him why he ended up being caught up in that mess and it was basically wrong place and wrong timing.
On the island I haven't died since certain incidents and I remember everything thus far, meaning I remember which gangs had caused me and my crew some trouble. Unfortunately when we came into the mine I noticed Dr Magnet wearing Red and immediately opened up the roleplay scenario of 'drilling on him' hence why he felt it was RDM which he now has at least some understanding as to why we did that.
Mr Magnet did agree to vouch for my appeal after we spoke in Discord and he is now aware that I am indeed Black and had no idea using the word the way we do in our community was unacceptable here.
We've mutually agreed that there is zero bad blood at all. This was ALL roleplay.
I understand how it seemed, and I am in NO way triggered by the ban that was placed and I actually COMMEND Merek for it, especially the response time. Like I said I do not tolerate, condone, or endorse racism so I do appreciate how quick said admin responded to the situation.
I apologise sincerely for what seemed like a racist incident, but I can assure you - this was purely a naive mistake on my behalf.
I hope you do understand that and hope that I can continue my alternate life on Roleplay.co.uk. That being said, there's no pressure to unban me quickly and my intentions aren't to apply any pressure, just to defend my name and get my passport back so I can fly back in and continue my alternate life on the island
