In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: I believe I was banned due to leaving an ongoing RP scenario.

Why should we unban you ?: Why should we unban you ?: The reason I am putting this appeal up is firstly I do not believe that this ban was fair and here is why I believe so. I had just been dumped and then the people that dumped me drove off, I waited a good 5-10 minutes to see if anything would occur however nothing happened. Note that this was at 1 in the morning and on a Monday night. I had to wake up early as I have college in the morning at 7:30 am. After logging off I did think for a second that I should give it a little more time to which I did I loaded back in and waited a further 5 minutes. At this time I am sure that the RP is in fact over as I am just in the water in the middle of nowhere. So I leave the game and turn off my pc and get ready for bed. This is when Simon_#0696 messages me on discord asking why I left the game, to which I say that its 1 am and I have important college work tomorrow. He then says "alrighty" at 1.15am and a minute later I message saying "If it’s a real big issue I can turn the pc back on" implying that if its such a big issue that I can just leave my pc on and let the timer tick off on its own. And a minute later he messages "Tad Late" which if he had given me time I would of just gotten back into the sever and went to bed. So overall I truly do believe that this is extremely harsh and over the top as at the end of the day people do have more important things to do the just wait in a pond to blead out. If necessary can send screen shots of the conversation on discord.

So first of all tell me why you think the staff team spend there spare time monitoring people and making sure they follow the rules. Im sure you can imagine its a pretty thankless job so tell me why you think we do it?

Then quote the rule from the rules and also explain that in your own words and again, why that rule is in place.

The tone of my typing may have made it seem like I am ungrateful for what staff do however that is not the case. I can imagine how difficult it is to uphold the rules set out when there are 100's of people on the server at the same time and I also know why staff spend their own time monitoring the server. I have heard and seen my self other servers on five M and how this lack of management in a server can completely ruin everybody's roleplay and fun that they are having. And without pillars like staff monitoring these rules will simply not be upheld and the roleplay would become not fun to take part in. The rule in question would be,

 C2.3) Combat logging - Logging out at any point during RP is exploiting. Some examples of this include: logging out during a firefight, being chased by the police, arrested by the police, while dead awaiting a medic, logging out in order to save gear, rage-quitting, logging out whilst restrained/detained. Punishment is a permanent ban. Staff can make an informed decision depending on if you’ve made an attempt to resolve the issue. We do suggest you attempt to rejoin the server and continue the roleplay (try messaging them with the mobile system first).

This means that when there is a ongoing RP scenario that logging out would first give a massive unfair advantage to there person logging out and secondly completely ruin not only the flow of that certain RP scenario but also the over arching RP itself.

So the issue with your appeal for me is that your not taking accountablity for your own actions. When joining this server you agree to follow and have read our rules. In your appeal you make it sound like you need staff instructions to "log back in if its a problem" the fact is, it is a problem. you knew it was a problem but did it anyway. Going forward how are we suppose to trust that without us monitoring you, you can follow the rules?

 
I understand where you are coming from, at the time I had some very important things coming up in the morning which I would be willing to explain further privately and not in a open forum thread. I knew that combat logging was a very big no no and have had people combat log on me and know just how annoying it is, however the point I would like to make is A i though that the roleplay scenario had ended and so did the other party involved. However I also understand where you stand as trust is once broken it is very difficult to build back up but I also do believe that I had a valid reason to log out and that you would also agree with my reason when you know what it it. 

This was also a vary once in a lifetime thing and that I promise to not risk my luck and stay on for an extra 5-10 minutes when I do have commitments the day after.

I disagree, if you had something so important you would not be gaming till 1am. If something is so important, you would have a early night and not risk any of this in the first place. So, no explanation is needed here or anywhere else. 

The roleplay may have ended for today, but you logging out could completely change the course of roleplay in the following days couldn't it?

 
Yes it very well could do but it also very well could not do. And in terms of you disagreeing in if something is so important ect, I would bet that if you did know what i had been going through then your reply would be a lot different but oh well no problem.

In terms of implications of what would happen the following days first it is just that an implication it could be x,y,z. Or the next day nothing could happen, but I do see where you are coming from and how this could be exploited by people however I ooc was expecting for the roleplay scenario to end with a new life.

Once again this attitude of yours seems to be coming out in your responses. 

So you say "I would bet that if you did know what I had been going through then your reply would be a lot different" 

Did you not state already in this appeal not once but twice the reason for you logging off was because it was 1am and you had college at 7:30am? Additionally to that when questioned by Simon on the day you stated that you logged off due to having "important college work" So based on all the information that we already knew and what you have confirmed on this appeal I think we have enough to go off to make that "judgement call" of saying if it was that important you should have logged off ages ago not at 1am.

Then we go back to this thing which has already been questioned in this appeal which is the lack of accountability from you. Seems more buts and excuses from yourself then anything else in this appeal.

Could you explain why you disconnected after being killed relogged and then decided enough is enough and then disconnect again?

Sorry for not being able to reply had tested positive for COVID and was feeling not the best.

With all honesty at the time I did say it was college in the morning at that was a lie. The following morning my Dad had one of his chemotherapy appointments and I am the one that goes along with him to these as neither of my parents know English very well and need me there for interpreting. This server before my ban had been one of the only ways that I was able to find an escape from the shit going on in my life and the people I met had been of massive help towards my rapidly worsening mental health. At the time I had not felt comfortable disclosing this information but as other the last month or so he has been getting a lot better and I myself am now able to speak about it a lot more freely.  The people I had met had truly improved my life and leading to the event that got me banned was involved with one of them in which we had beef in RP but he was still supporting me out of RP @Elakin

Moving onto the accountability, it may be from the way that I type or something but I do genuinely understand that no matter what the fault is completely mine and I should not of left the game there and let the spawn timer run out and respawned.  However knowing this now wont change what happened and i do understand that as well. This has been personally a good month in which I was able to think and evaluate what happened and my mistakes. After this time I realised that no matter what happens in RP it is not worth losing time that i could spend with the people i have made such a strong and valuable connection to such as @AliceHerbage @Dwayne Spike @Gekz @Alex_Ferrariand many more to name. 

Over this last month or so I have came to truly appreciate and understand the value of what I lost, and the regret has been unbearable at times. 

Finally in terms of disconnecting then reconnecting the disconnecting, I dont have much of an explanation and it was just a case of me disconnecting then thinking that maybe the RP wasn't over and that the other party may come back and that's why I relogged however after another 5 minutes i thought the RP was fully over and disconnected. I understand that this is simply not the right thing to do and I yet again have no one to blame but my own rash and unthoughtful decisions.

I'd like to start this is off by saying I am sorry to hear the news about your Dad and on behalf of everybody from the RPUK Staff team we wish him all the best and hope that therapy goes well. 

Mental Health is very serious, as someone who has suffered rather badly from it myself I understand the whole "escape" aspect that you are talking about. However it's not always the best thing, yes you may get some short term escape and happiness from the "online version of you" but you are neglecting yourself by doing that. I for example when I was down bad I left the community and focused on sorting myself out and was able to come back in a much better mindset then I was beforehand. Sometimes a "ban" isn't a punishment in mental health terms it could give you that push to focus on yourself and get you sorted before being unbanned from here. 

Now that's all out the way.

So the first story you logged off because you had college and it was 1am and it was important. We told you if it was something important you should have logged off ages ago. Now you are telling us that it was for your dads chemo appointment and you are up at 1am playing on the server knowing this appointment is at 07:30am? I am sorry but that's worse then the college story. You should have been off WAY before then to make sure that you are up and ready for that appointment no?

I think charles was spot on if anyone had something that important in the morning they would not be gaming until 1am in the morning. 


So now what do I do. Do I give you another chance? Or since you are clearly getting yourself to deep into the character by gaming until very late despite very important stuff going on that you are neglecting keep you banned for a while in hope that you as a person gets yourself the help that you need since you say that you are suffering mentally.

I appreciate the words, I understand your concerns and I can see where you are coming from and I would like to say that this server has always been a great way for me to just chill and genuinely use as a escape. The server and the people I met and had active quality RP with genuinely were nothing but a positive for my mental health. 

I really do hope and ask for a second chance to prove to you as the staff but also to the whole community and to keep giving the highest quality RP I can give.
