Unban Appeal for 4pfrona

In-game Name: Dave Sancho

Server: GTA RP

Steam ID: 76561198108558894

Ban ID: !!rpuk9160!!

Reason given for your ban: c2.2

In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: I was banned for C2.2, exploiting. I was banned for using an emote at the start of a small gunfight. I was at Marabunta turf when a fight started. Just after attacking someone with a shovel, I spoke on the radio and pressed a nearby key that was bound to the favourite emote bind that I recently had selected as prone. As I proned someone shot at me, I then quickly got back up and resumed the situation.

Why should we unban you ?: I admit fault. I've had favourite emote bound for a long time and have never had an issue before and have never really used it. The key that I assigned as a favourite emote bind was unfortunately placed next to my radio keybind and this caused me to unintentionally dodge. It is more evident when seen from my point of view: https://medal.tv/games/gta-v/clips/oW98eOJBFYhcu/zbRlwL22jl7q?invite=cr-MSx4dzYsMzE5NDUyNzYs
Nevertheless, it happened and I take responsibility for it. My intention wasn't to break server rules or create an unfair environment, I always strive to create a fun and balanced scenario and make sure everyone enjoys themselves. For example, after the situation, without any prompting to do so, I took the affected party to the hospital to ensure balance and fairness. I understand this doesn't absolve me of any wrongdoing, yet, I think it shows a positive mindset and the willingness to create a fair, enjoyable environment.

I do understand why the C2.2 rule is in place and why it is strictly enforced. Having an unfair advantage over the player base is something that shouldn't happen, making use of a situation to strictly benefit yourself and going against the general player base as a means to obtain a personal advantage is reprehensible.

I made a silly, stupid mistake. Afterwards, I was frustrated with myself for allowing it to happen. By having the keybind set I set myself up for that to happen, I didn't see it at the time but in hindsight, it was incredibly foolish. Shortly following the incident I unbound the favourite emote and have since evaluated all my other binds to avoid a similar event happening. I can only hope that by ensuring this won't happen again you can look into giving me another chance and allow this to be a blip on an otherwise near perfect record.

Please confirm that you have read the unban appeal process and rules: Yes

Well reading the player report and the appeal whilst reviewing the evidence was indeed interesting. Lets kick this off with some comments you made on the report then jump into the appeal.

Within the report on your own response you mention about why bans are given and claiming the person you quoted had a toxic attitude to yourself, Then within the appeal you now hold your hands up to the wrong doing.

There seems to be mixed messages from yourself, Whilst yes it could be argued you may not have ment to do this, You did and that's your own actions for having such a key bound in the first place. You mention "I always strive to create a fun and balanced scenario and make sure everyone enjoys themselves" in this appeal. Explain how the emote you used have have or had bound does what you mentioned?

Hello Stuart and thank you for responding.
It's very similar to how the built-in crouch bind works. Prone was bound to favourite emote and was used in many of the situations crouch is used. I have used it in the past to hide on rooftops, ambush, or observe situations from afar I never intended to use the emote in the way I did, for this I can only apologise and make changes to make sure this never happens again.

Whilst I get the premise for using such emotes, Why was it needed to bind it over simply doing the /e in chat?

Reason I ask is due to the situation you are now in due to having this bound and it being used in a gunfight, Whilst you claim it was a mistake ect looking at the evidence it seems very coincidental when it happened does it not?

@4pfronaPlease respond or this appeal will timeout.

Whilst I get the premise for using such emotes, Why was it needed to bind it over simply doing the /e in chat
It bound the favourite emote not the /e prone action. It just so happened that at the time my favourite emote was prone. I bound favourite emote some time ago for convenience. In the past, I've assigned /e briefcase to favourite emote to make the roleplay flow better. For example, if I am doing a trade for illicit items in roleplay then it's easier to have a bind for a box or case. It's embarrassing upon exiting your vehicle and spending 15 seconds writing an emote out, the issue is exacerbated in my case due to my slow typing speed, it just ends up looking odd. Prone was bound for similar reasons, it looks odd having to pause to write out emotes that you frequently use or plan to use in the roleplay. Simply, it's just better for the flow of roleplay to have a favourite emote bind.

Whilst you claim it was a mistake ect looking at the evidence it seems very coincidental when it happened does it not?
I agree, it's a crap situation. However, it wasn't intentional. I tried to explain this in the report but I think it might have been lost in the wall of text. In the video I provided you can see me attack an individual with a shovel and then very shortly after, not even half a second later get shot at. When I attacked with the shovel you can see the person that soon after shoots at me, at this time he has no firearm out and is not an immediate threat. My camera then turns away and that is when he pulls his pistol and begins shooting at me. I had no idea who this person was and what threat was posed to me, without knowing of the imminent danger how could I have reacted with malicious intent through the use of exploitive keybinds. As soon as I downed the person outside the shop I called it out over the radio, that is when I mistakingly pressed my bind as it is close to my radio bind. So to summarise: in barely half a second, I have taken the time to bash someone with a shovel, realise I am being shot at, talk on the radio and press my prone hotkey, all of this in just over half a second.

This is the clip I am referencing: https://medal.tv/games/gta-v/clips/oW98eOJBFYhcu/LYpFrQg77ExK?invite=cr-MSx4dzYsMzE5NDUyNzYs

Nevertheless, that's not to say I am not in the wrong. Although I didn't mean to do it, it happened. I attempted to solve it in every possible way I could think of, in-game, out-of-game, attempts at communication, everything. Still, it happened. All I can say is I'm sorry and take action to prevent it from happening again.

Whilst I understand you was looking forward the other person in your own clip tells you that they have a gun just prior to you going prone whilst on the radio, Mid attack of the first you downed with the shovel, So do I believe you was unaware they had no firearm, Not totally however not seen until the shots are fired since you was told.

Whilst you have said you've unbound the emote, How can we be sure this won't become an issue moving forward?

In the future, I will abstain from using emote binds and any similar binds to ensure such an incident doesn't happen again. I will carefully monitor my usage of all emotes moving forward. I will return to typing out every emote I use and take great care when selecting the emotes that I use. I believe this to be a one-off mistake and hope to continue my roleplay on the server.

If you get banned for this or something related to exploiting  you will be gone for 6 months regardless.
Also do keep in mind that you are now coming off a permanent ban, this means also your next ban will also need to be appealed and can also send you away for a longer period of time.
