The date of your ban.

Reason given for your ban.
2.1 Vehicle Death Match

The Server you initially were banned on.
Server 1

In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.
I was banned for breaking the rule of Vehicle Deathmatch (or VDM) which consists on using a vehicle (of any type except MRAPs) as a weapon to harm others intentionally. I am not going to address the MRAP specific rules (unless asked to) since the incident I was involved in had only a Zamak and a SUV.
Running people over, ramming into other vehicles or buildings and causing explosions with sling loaded vehicles is considered as VDM as it shows the intention of the driver/pilot to harm others.

I did a U turn into a Zamak giving the driver no time to change route and avoid my car which made both vehicles explode and the people that there were in it die. Even though my intention was not harm anyone but to make the Zamak driver change route, the fact that I did the maneuver too close to him not giving him enough time to change direction so that he wouldn't hit me classifies this situation as VDM since the people who were inside the Zamak ended up hurt and it is legitimate to assume that I tried to use my car as a weapon to harm others even though that was not my intention, as I explained to the Staff Members involved in this situation.
After watching the recording of the situation from other Point of View I realised what I stated above, that being it is legitimate to assume that I tried to use my car as a weapon to harm others.

Why should we unban you ?
In my opinion I should be unbanned because I have realised and understood what I did wrong, as I explained above, and I believe that I now have full understanding of the rule that I broke in this situation (2.1 VDM). Adding to that, this situation was the first, last and only time it will or has occurred with me being the rule breaker since I now have full knowledge of the said rule. Unfortunately I do not have recording to prove it but as soon as the vehicles exploded I recognized that it was indeed a VDM situation which, on my opinion, shows if not full, partial understanding of the 2.1 rule.
As I explained to people involved in the situation, my intention was to prevent to take a route that would possibly endanger the lives of both me and my patrol partner as that area could have rebels set up willing to harm us.
At that time I thought that it would be safe to do this kind of maneuver, I thought that there was enough space for the driver to adapt his route without crashing into me as so,I did not have the intention to harm anyone but the fact that it was not done correctly (which would be giving them enough time to turn either around or drive off on the opposite direction of where I was) classifies the situation as VDM which I fully understand and agree.

In addition to what is written above, I believe it should be also taken in consideration the fact that I was willing to co-operate and available at all times that my presence was requested, as the Staff who dealt with this unfortunate situation know and can confirm.

To finish all of this, I would like to apologies to everyone who had to waste time with this incident and on what depends on me I can guarantee that you will never see me again in situation that resembles to this one (if I get unbanned, obviously).

Ok Paulo.

I can see that YOU know where you went wrong and know to give waaaaaaay more room before trying to block the path on a vehicle..

It's just such a simple, basic mistake for someone. Taking in to account all of your warnings and previous bans, I am VERY surprised to see you here again.

I'm not really convinced that I won't see you back in this part of the forums within a few weeks, maybe two months at max.

How can I actually put any trust in to you, considering your history?

Well, if I was you I would be reluctant to unban me taking in consideration the number of both bans and warnings that I have but (I'm not sure, and correct me if I'm wrong) I think the circumstances and the way things happened is not explicit on your notes of the warnings and bans and if I explained you how it all happened I believe that you and anyone else would understand that only one of them would actually be a reason to ban me since the RDM report was a revenge report (I don't deny it was RDM but I did solve it on TS, the guy was ok with it, understood what happened and a few days later I encountered him and the situation ended up being hostile which led him to be killed and the report from the previous incident was made less than an hour after the second...)  and the teleport warning was a Gang related issue, I believe (I don't recall anything other than that regarding myself and Teleporting), which I was the one who informed the Gang Leader about to avoid this exact situation of me being targeted for something that I did not do. My second ban was a "misunderstanding" (can't really call it that since I was never listened by the person who banned me) taking in consideration the fact that I spoke to three other staff team members about it asking if I was indeed breaking any rule, and if so which one, every single one of them told me I should not be banned for that and that they would unban me straight away, until I told them who banned me and then refused to do so. The rest of the details you probably know about already or you can consult on the unban appeals and on the report (that ended up being only a warning).

In addition to what I said above, the fact that I have not broke any rule that I broke before shows that I have learnt from this situations and acknowledged fully what each one of them mean and what they stand for. Also, everytime I get in any kind of trouble regarding server rules (being either me or anyone else involved in the same situation) I take some time to read the Rules again in order to make sure that I am right on what I am saying and to keep them fresh in my memory since some details can be easily forgotten.

I consider myself as Roleplay focused player since I spend most of my patrol time on foot patrols on which, according to the Police Handbook, the Police Officer is strongly advised not to leave the Green Zone in Kavala to avoid all kinds of hostile situations and I've been in the NHS for at least eight of my ten months (not sure) on this server and I have been very active on it (this is a valid point because the main goal of the NHS is to give the players a better roleplay experience).

Adding to all of this, the fact I keep coming back even after all of those incidents is because I really like both the community and the way the server is managed and put together. As you can check, I spent an insane amount of time on the server taking in consideration the fact that I bought the game less than a year ago and I have close to 1300 hours already and I believe close 1000 were spent here on RPUK. Spending all of this time on the server made me meet a lot of new people and a select group of those who I met here I can call them friends. These friendships is something that I don't want to lose, especially because of a silly mistake of mine, taking that in consideration I can guarantee that if I get unbanned I will be even more careful that what I have been previously in order to stay away from this part of the forums which would make me lose connection to my friends and all of the others that I like but haven't had enough time to know better.

And again, sorry to waste your time with this incident it was never my intention to do so.

Paulo Serafim

It does seem like a silly thing to get caught out with. You're right in saying it's not something you've been picked up for before, how can you try and make sure we don't repeat this specific offence?

What do you plan on doing on the server if given a chance to return?

As I am in the police, and we are not allowed to patrol alone unless it takes place in Kavala Square which is a foot patrol, I will try to stay out of the drivers seat as much as I can (if not permanently, at least until I get familiar with the new physics) in order to avoid this kind of situations. When I play as a civilian mainly use aircrafts to get around the island as it is safer (for someone who usually plays alone) and faster to get from A to B. To my understanding, there's a smaller chance of VDMing other aircrafts while they are flying compared to "Ground VDM". Adding to that, as I am not an insanly good pilot like others in this community, I tend to stay pretty high until the landing which means that there's no chance of me flying into a ground vehicle because I wanted to go underneath some power lines or for some reason I was flying 6 meters above ground. Taking in consideration the fact that I usually play alone as civilian I try to avoid hostile situations at all costs as so its very unlikely for you to have seen me in pursuits (either in a helicopter or in a car). Since I didn't have the habit of doing those kind of things and now, after this situation I certainly won't be doing anything that may end up in this kind of messy situation, can't assure that I won't be involved but it won't be me flying neither the aircraft nor the vehicle.

Everything I wrote above was written assuming the hypothetical scenario of me being unbanned.

Again, sorry for wasting your with this situation and with long replies but I feel the need to explain everything with detail as I really hope to get unbanned because I really like the server and the community. I've had a great time in here and I look forward to continue to do so.

Like Samatlewis, I'm also concerned regarding the number of previous warnings and bans. Whilst you feel hard done by with some of them, they are still on your record.

You have put in a lot of effort into your appeal which does make me think you're serious about getting back.  What I will say however, is there's only so many chances we can give people, and taking your historic record into consideration, should you be banned again in the future, it will be a perma ban with a period of 6 months before you can appeal.  Hopefully this will encourage you to engage your brain before acting in situations where discipline is required to prevent a rule break.
