I broke into what turned out to be Ram's house and heard a quadbike coming down the road. It stopped outside my door and I saw a UNMC member in full gear come to the door. I waited a few seconds and as he came up the stairs I shot at him. He shot back and killed me. I was later told by Ram that this counted as RDM because I didn't roleplay any of the shooting (e.g. asking him to leave the house). I then spawned in Kavala which was within 1km of the area I died in, breaking NLR. It turned out the UNMC member was Ram himself.
Why should we unban you ?
I have played on roleplay servers before and thought very similar rules would apply which got me into this situation. Despite that, I think the fact that I have experience in RP (Rv Gaming Community 4 years ago on Garry's Mod, now shut down + Lemonpunch Community 3 years ago on Garry's Mod, both of which were HL2 Roleplaying servers + Arma 3 Life Roleplay in the Life-Studios community roughly a year ago) which I have proven to people I have come into contact with in game gives me the foundations to become an ideal player for this server. If you were wondering why I came onto this server, it's because I wanted a new community and a slightly more casual approach towards Arma 3 RP. I don't think my issue is necessarily the roleplaying, but my misconception that roleplay rules are universal. I've already made myself a name with plenty of people on the server and I'm currently part of the "Jump Out Gang" which consists of me and a few friends of mine.
I'm not disputing that the actions that I performed were not following the rules, I'm just appealing on the grounds that I made an honest mistake by not reading the rules in detail and had no ill-intention when breaking the rules (e.g. I didn't know that NLR had a 1km radius on this server so I wasn't aware that spawning back in Kavala would be breaking NLR, if I had known this I would have done something so simple as changing my spawn point). I stated this to Ram when he talked to me in game (confessing to breaking rules without reading them) but I think I put across the wrong impression by making myself look like I was brand new to roleplaying in general (I called someone out for Metagaming earlier today so I'm clearly not brand new to roleplay) and as if I didn't have any further plans to at least attempt to return the server. I remember somewhere in the conversation he made a passing comment about how I didn't know what NLR stood for so it seems apparent to me that by not abiding by the particular rules of this server he was under the impression that I was just some random person that decided to join the server because I wanted to try out Arma 3 RP which isn't the case whatsoever.
In order to progress from this incident, it's quite clear that I just need to give the rules a proper read through. Had I done that earlier, I would have avoided all this in the first place. If not reading the rules thoroughly is enough to warrant me as incapable of being a part of this community then deny this appeal and I will move on. In any case, I apologise for the trouble I have caused. If saying it means anything, I truly didn't mean to.
From my talk with Ram alone, I now know that for this particular community:
-The "New Life Rule" has a 1000m radius; and
-Attempting to kill another without initiating (or at least attempting to initiate) roleplay is "Random Death Matching"
