Your GUID or Steam ID: 76561198062838666
Date & Time you was banned:: ~0420h BST
Admin that banned you (Check ban message when you connect to the servers): Adam
In your own words, Why do you think you was banned: I was banned for "Body Glitch".
Please copy and paste the rule you think you broke: Rule 2D. However been given the chance to appeal by Adam:

<05:20:35> "Adam": he can appeal the ban on the forums
Please give reasons why we should give you a final chance: Hello,

The situation is as follows:

We were travelling in a group of 4, when one person dropped dead. At the time they seem to have died, so I proceeded to try and pick up the weapon.

I was unable to pick up the weapon using space, so I tried tapping the inventory key in order to gain access to the items on the ground, this worked, and I picked up the gun. As I am now aware of the situation, I would like to emphasise that the gun is the only thing I picked up.
Having spoken to the person who I thought died, it turned out they disconnected, which explains why their weapon was not available for picking up. The situation has now been explained to me that if someone disconnects and items taken from the “body”, they duplicate, which is why the rule is in place.
I am aware that body glitching is not allowed to take items, I was unsure of what I had done. I thought that taking a weapon upon someone’s death was allowed, and this is what I did.

I now understand that if I am able to access items on the ground next to a corpse and see their kit, this is what body glitching looks like in the game. I’d like to gain some clarification, that if I am unable to pick up a weapon with space, this means that did not die?

I will not repeat the same mistake again should I be fortunate and receive an unban. I apologise for my actions.

Thanks
Regards, C

Regardless of whether he died, disconnected or got RDMed you should never exploit the bug to loot a dead body.

If a friend dies by a bug, rule breakers or by ingame mechanics (starving or being dehydrated), you should wait for a medic to come and revive him... If a medic is not available (not online) and you die by either a rule breaker or a bug, you file a compensation request. (If you die by in game mechanics it's your own fault and you loose your gear)

Hi, thanks for the clarification. Of course now I understand how this works and will not do it again. I am new to arma, this is my first server and have been here just under 2 weeks now. It's a stupid error and should you think i deserve an unban, will work to not make any more mistakes.

In future I will definitely try and get recordings should I find myself in a situation where it is bugged, and never ever repeat the same error of opening the inventory near a player like that.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Edit 11/08/2015:

Having spoken to the mentor Cryant on Teamspeak regarding this incident and wanting to seek clarification, I am now 100% clear on the "exploit", how I inadvertently used it to get a weapon, and what it looks like in game.

Just to reiterate, I only took the gun under the belief that it was allowed, and unaware that the exploit was being used to achieve this. I did not attempt to take anything other than the MX. Although I was aware of the rule, I was not aware of how the exploit actually functioned. It was an honest mistake and will not be repeated. I appreciate the serious RP environment and respect the server rules, I understand that they are in place for a very good reason.

I have taken the feedback from Adam and Cryant onboard and have learnt from this experience.

I would like to again apologise for this, and for wasting the administration team's time.

Regards, C
