I was banned for attempting to lock-pick while in the Green Zone.

Why should we unban you ?
I'm new and there isn't a guide yet available for Altis Life so a lot of my experience has been gained through practise. It was my first time having a lockpick and frankly, I wasn't sure how they worked -- most controls are context sensitive, some require the pressing of the left windows keys and some require you to select them through the PDA-Type interface. Unfortunately, I found it was through the PDA interface and started lock picking the car closest to me (which was a police car.) I was partly expecting a similar system to the mining in where you select the item through the PDA then press the left-windows key.

I aborted the lock picking, saw a police officer chasing me and went with it keeping in character, having a little cat and mouse type chase. A minute or two later I was kicked.

It wasn't done with malicious intent, it wasn't done to try and brake the rules and it wasn't done to even steal anything -- it was a case of me just trying to figure the game out. Next time, I'll keep any experimenting outside the Green Zone. The car just happened to be outside the shop where I got the lockpicks from. Wrong place, wrong time, wrong action.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the "crime" related things anyway. I find hauling ores to be far more therapeutic, especially with the old GTA:SA radio stations playing in the background.

(6.4) You are unable to use lockpicks or steal vehicles in a green or blue zone (Punishment is a ban)

The rule itself is pretty self-explanatory albeit somewhat misleading with the phrasing. I think the usage of "forbidden" in place of "unable" would be more apt as the latter somewhat implies a mechanical restriction from carrying out that action.

I digress though, it's a matter for the rule feedback thread.  

The green-zone rules are in place to prevent "griefing" from taking place within designated safe-zones, zones which are there to offer respite from the dangers of crime and hostility within Altis Life. 

I just wish to reiterate that my actions were not undertaken with malicious or criminal intent, it was merely me trying to figure out how the mechanics of Altis Life worked given it has been my first experience with a Roleplay Server on Arma 3. I do admit though that I was a little thoughtless as to where I was at the time!

Of course, I understand the server rules and intend to follow them.
