In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.
I know that I was banned because of what I typed in direct chat to three of my friends, when nobody else was around. I typed "not a valid reason... see you on the forums kid :/" when I crashed my helicopter and was on the floor. My friend said he was going to execute me for being a bad pilot as a joke, and because it was 2am and I was going offline anyway I wanted him to so I could log off. We were having a good time with lots of banter and everyone who was involved had lots of fun, but I fully understand that I overstepped the mark and failed to realise where the boundaries lie.

Why should we unban you ?
I think that I should be unbanned because I believe that it was taken out of context. I am in no way trying to justify what I typed as I fully understand the rule of 2.8, and I believe threats to report should be dealt with harshly. However, I typed what I did as an inside joke to three of my friends, and they all laughed when they saw it. Nobody else could see. I have also been a member of this community for around 3 to 4 years, with my forum profile turning 3 years old this year. I have a clean slate, with the exception of me being pulled by an admin once, and resolving the issue there and then. I have always played with the aim of making it enjoyable for everyone I meet, and I understand that people seeing this in chat can take away from the enjoyment. Hence, I would never and have never threatened to report anyone and have never broken RP in voice.

As I stated above, I believe it was taken out of context. I am presuming that an admin has checked the chat logs and has seen what I typed. I fully understand and agree with their decision to ban anyone who threatens to report with no questions asked, as it is directly violating rule 2.8. However, I believe that if they was there and they saw what happened, there would be a different story. If an admin was watching, they would see that everyone laughed, and that I laughed too as well as everyone around me understanding that it was a joke. After it was said, I vividly remember saying 'alright guys I'm going to sleep, maybe I'll wake up again tomorrow,' to which everyone replied along the lines of 'see you tomorrow, goodnight.' Nobody was affected negatively by what I said, though I fully understand and accept that if people who were not in on the joke saw the message, they could have been.

The person who banned me was just carrying out their duties to protect the community, therefore I blame no member of this community other than myself for what has happened. As it states on the Altis Life Unban Appeal page, what I did was entirely my fault, and I would like to stress that I am fully responsible for my own ban. I would never make the same mistake twice, and if I was to be unbanned this would be the last and only time you'd see me breaking a rule.

(2.8) Threats to report / disputes / Breaking RP in Voice. There are so many people on the server with all different points of view and disputes and disagreements are all part of the game, however please do not discuss them in-game also do not break RP in voice. For example if someone has RDM’ed you discussing this on the server or saying “I am going to report you” is not allowed. Please use the forums or teamspeak to report or discuss only (Punishment is a ban) Exception: You may contact someone using the text system if they are not on teamspeak or on the forums. Please only attempt to make this contact in effort to resolve the issue, not to antagonise the other player/users/members.

This rule means that with the large number of people that play, there are bound to be different beliefs towards certain matters, and this is just part of the game. You should never discuss them in game by breaking RP, however. Even if someone has broken the rules against you, for example RDM'ed, threatening to report them on the server is not allowed. Instead, simply ask them to join teamspeak (through the text chat) to talk about it there, or you may be banned. Attempting to contact the player through in-game text system must only be used in an attempt to resolve the issue, not to provoke hostility. 

This rule is in place for a few reasons. One is so that immersion is not broken. After all, this is a roleplay community and it is in the name. People connect to play a role,  and if you break character in voice it ruins the immersion for other people. By breaking RP, you are not playing a role anymore, meaning there is no point in being a part of this community. In addition to this, it is also in place to stop spam in the text chat in-game. With the number of people that play daily, think of how many different situations take place. People are bound to believer that rules have been broken against them. If everyone threatened in chat, think of how negative it would be. New players would recognise how negative everybody was, and who would want to play with people like that? In addition to this, there would be lots of spam due to arguments. There are two sides to every story, and nobody else on the server wants to see it. Some people can say nasty things mid argument, and this community has no place for them. If somebody was to type something offensive across side chat, lots of people could get offended and that would negatively affect their experience on the server. This could lead to other people getting involved, making side channel a mess which nobody would want to see.
