With limited information this looks like a part of the military is trying to do a coup?

Correct?

Any more info mate?

I know this is really REALLY sad but it is extremely interesting, i am sorry if this offends you.

Well, i am using my phone as modem so internet is back for me.
in the national TV channel TRT there is a continious video loop stating the goals of the military and that they are doing this against the corrupt government and they hold the side of law and etc.

The main party got 50% support so there is talks of possible civil war soon.

Ooh no I like turkish pizza :(

Ont:

Yeah, I saw in at the news. Looks like a  coup d'etat for me :(

For everyone in turkey right now hope you guys are save :(

Well .. atleast this guy is having some fun

Reckon who is backing this coup? think nato / eu will send troops  to sort this mess out...

Unlikely, the current president just called for citizens to "pour to streets and airports", he is trying to create a chaos and force a civil war instead of trying political channels, if neither party backs down, there can be civil war because currently there is no intel on the % of the military that is involved with the coup. but, i would say around 50% of the population supports the coup

I am afraid this coup will fail, and it might actually be a flush out coup that is trying to stir the military with a fake coup to see who pops their head out and also once the coup fails the president will have lots of propaganda material to push his dictatorial vision for turkey stating things like this will solve the situation.
Because currently the coup has failed to capture any of the important governmental figures, the only news agency taken over is the TRT 1 ... it looks ... disordered, no progress from the military, no names announced for who is leading the coup. Just basic end goals like "bring democracy back to Turkey"

But, one can always hope for the best.

Well the president is known to be communist and dictator the ones starting the coup prob want to restore democracy but if shit hits the fan then NATO will rush in and sort the situation out as they are sharing nukes with turkey.
This is not a time to be a keyboard conspiracy activist... I don't think NATO will send troops just yet as it seems that it's a minor portion of the military that's doing this, I reckon with the rate of how they're surrendering at the moment the situation is resolved in a week or so. However with people going to the streets and clearly fighting against a Military state (Which a military coup will bring, no way it will give more democracy, the exact other way) It is alot 50/50 in Turkey atm so a Civil war is likely, but a Civil war in France is just as likely, due to Right wing extremists will probably begin attacking Muslims and people who "look like them", and then the Muslims (especially extremist) will begin fighting, and then you have a thing that goes around in a circle and then bam, a civil war.

Oh and if you feel offended by this post in any way, that's your issue
EDIT: Turkish Intelligence Agency, reports the coup has failed, and they're currently working with their Anti Terror and Special forces on taking care of the last pockets of "Rebels" who are not surrendering.

Well, this was the most retarded coup in existence that finished in 4 hours.
Only one news agency was taken over.
No government officials were captured.
Towards the end, there were explosions in some of the governmental buildings.
And this morning they have started to arrest high military officials, politicians belonging to opposing parties, president of the supreme court and several others with the suspicion of being part of the coup. The news channels that were not sympathetic to current leading religious party are not allowed to broadcast anything and in their web pages they are being told to make headlines stating exactly this "Democracy Has Won - The Conspirators will never win"

Well, that's a bummer, also where the heck did that guy get from that Erdogan is communist lol? He's known to be a religious ,islamic conservative not a freaking communist.

Nonetheless, that coup was really nothing special it seems, what's sad is they pretty much lost because of that phone call to the private TV agency.

It's quite the stereotype: Bad governmental leadership = Communism

tbh I'd rather be a communist than a conservative nationalist´, but that's a whole other discussion, and like dave said above, this coup did more bad than good, now that they lost it: more "power" to the government, and if they had won it, turkey would've become a dictatorship. A bad democracy is still better than no democracy

Has it not I got the impression it was pretty much over as the majority has been arrested and pretty much failed to take control over any government buildings bar one news station.

No its turkish propaganda

The coup still owns most of the cities and land that they took over.

Its a military against Police the military has tanks what does the police have nothing close to that so how can they fail.
