Brief Summary:
There is mayhem at the truck depot (I have seen a few separate suggestions) and across the whole city because there is no responsibility on vehicle placement. Vehicles are obstructing roads until the server or admins do a clear up.
Detailed Suggestion:
Either create a Traffic Warden job and/or give the police, mechanics and workers in certain areas (e.g. trucker depot) the ability to apply parking tickets to vehicles and request mechanic seizure/impound for the following reasons;
Obstructing roads and/or other road users - ticket/fine applied
Abandoned vehicles, including trailers and hire vehicles (for no return within 2mins game time results in fine sent to owner (like speeding fines) and vehicle is seized)
You could also allow for passing drivers/players to plot a GPS vehicle collection point for the mechanic to collect the suspected abandonment.
Perhaps make the mechanic drop off point dependent on where the vehicle is owned;
Owned vehicles go to the City Impound
Hired vehicles and trailers are returned to Depot/Hire location.
Suggestion of £10k per vehicle, excluding trailer hires (another £10k for abandoning that too), to owner/hirer. Better payout for mechanics. This is avoided by the owner/hirer remaining with the vehicle until the mechanic arrives and takes control of the vehicle.
The Pros:
People will be less likely to leave a vehicle if they know there will be a big fine coming their way. It will force them to stay with their vehicle until the mechanic turns up, instead of ditching and going to start another job.
The Cons:
The need for more mechanics - maybe pay a little more competitively?
And if the vehicle is stolen and the vehicle is dumped it would be a little unfair as it’s out of the control of the owner. Perhaps an easier way to mark as stolen to avoid the cost?
Also if a person is hospitalised and the NHS records can prove it or confirm the person has been checked in and is received treatment it would be unfair for owners/hirers to be fined - maybe a process to mitigate this.
Does this suggestion change balance on the server ?
it may affect the job ratio and need for more mechanics.
