The Police Tazer & its ammunition

Starsky

(Un)Retired Memester
Recently did a small operation with 7-8 people where we took a small amount of cocaine in an Orca. We flew to the outskirts of Kavala and landed so that we could sneak in and finish our operation quietly without creating a large amount of noise within the city. As we are advancing we notice a police hatchback arriving and so we set up ready for them. The police got out as they had noticed us and began to tell us to drop our weapons. Bear in mind we have an extensive arsenal, such as:

  1. Zafir 7.62mm
  2. Vermin .45 ACP
  3. ZUBR .45
  4. MX Rifles 6.5mm and many more.
In this position, the cops were outnumbered and out gunned. In this situation you would expect the officers to surrender wouldn't you? Especially seeing as they only had tazers? Nope, they decided that they should engage us due to the fact that they're obviously in a better position than us compared to weaponry. They taze 2-3 of us quickly as they are running around rampantly, soon the officers die due to the fact that other members within the group were able to get lucky shots off onto them. But obviously this comes with a cost as we have opened fire and this noise will spread through town. I die due to crossfire and being knocked out by a tazer. And our operation is foiled, simply because the tazer was able to dispatch a moderate amount of us without any effort and restrain us. Do you think that if you were in this situation you would believe this was fair?

Later I realised that the Tazer holds up to 20+ "bullets" within it and so they don't have to reload and so they can go rather crazy with it due to the fact that it's very strong. I was really shocked to be honest, due to the fact that this gives an enormous advantage to the police force while being extremely overpowered to use, the fact that one cop can taze three rebels is beyond ridiculous and should be lowered down to the realistic amount of 1 "bullet" in a cartridge and then they have to reload.

Excusing the fact that the cops obviously Fail RP'd in that situation (who would decide to go against 7-8 rebels and run around tazing them seriously?) the Tazer should be nerfed dramatically so that it is a one shot weapon then the officer can reload it quickly compared to a gun. This not only gives the opposing force time to react but it also doesn't mean that a cop can necessarily One Man Army into a group of heavily armed soldiers. (Like seriously two cops into eight soldiers..)

The semi auto taser is a problem that has been acknowledged by admins, i believe they said its not possible to give each clip one bullet.
Im sure its on their long list of things to do, and a solution will be found eventually, but I wouldnt expect any changes too soon.

One suggestion i would have is if police officers were made to fire all but one of their taser rounds from each clip they carry before leaving base, but this is cumbersome and will probably end up being difficult to enforce.

Very true. Logically they would call for T.F.U. backup (police swat team) to combat 8 heavily armed men with military grade weapons. Not the common bobby with a tazer for knife criminals.

Tazer is a modified PO7 which has a 16 round mag. What the cops did is fair, but they were idiots for going at a squad to begin with.(I'm assuming they were a pair of PCSOs) If you told them to surrender and they did not then I would say they failed RP because it is a 4:1 ratio, but in your description you did not.

even if they didnt tell them  to surrender, if you see so many guys with guns you aren't gonna go up against them with a tazer... Sorry but it just wouldnt have happened.

That's why I said they were idiots in the situation. The main point of the post was a complaint about tazers, which performed as expected in the situation. The users were idiots, but the tools did nothing wrong.

Again 16 shots because it is a modified PO7. http://armedassault.wikia.com/wiki/P07_9_mm The reason the police take multiple shots is because the sights are engulfed with the silencer that is encoded to make it a non-lethal tazer which if removed makes it a lethal pistol.
not true, a lot of people think it is, but it's not, I've used the taser without the silencer on it and it still works fine the only problom is the sound, every time someone would want to taze someone *BANG BANG BANG* in the middle of a city, it causes more police to come to the area thinking there's a rebel with a gun, instead of just a quite *pew*. it does work but it doesn't help the situation if you're trying to taze them and they start runnign around thinking they're being sniped

I do agree with this topic - tazer mags should be limited a lot more than they are currently.

Ah ok then. I was mislead by a video I was watching on Youtube  a while back where a lower ranking officer(not our server) asked if he took the silencer off it was lethal as they were going to storm a house and the other officers said yes.

There may be some development work under way to stop the taser spam. ;)

Not sure if Ed has got around to it yet, but we discussed a solution a while back, then Wilco went on holiday so it probably ain't been scripted yet. Hang tight anyway. Hopefully there is a 'fix' coming soon.

It will be a real shame when the tazer gets nerfed because you will find a lot of officers switching to lethal more. Personally I try to not go lethal because I know how time consuming and costly a re-kit is. Not to mention the red zone gauntlet.

The taser is a P07 with a modded silencer which when attatched to the P07 gives the tasing effect. The only way the admins would actually be able to slow down it's rate of fire is either switching it out with the Zubr .45 or the Starter pistol, which some players seem to favor. As for magazine size, yes, they could remove the 30 round mag, but that would make the Sting only capable of holding 16 rounds, which would leave us policemen squealing (like pigs! lol jk).
