What is the point of these items? Other than the ascetic look what is the actual point of your name saying 'Unknown'? It's powergaming for anyone to act on that information above your name so I fail to see the reason why it's there?

The reason I am asking this is I am wanting to see if there is an RP aspect that I am simply missing.

Well using the nametag for any info is aginst the rules and is knows as metagaming

But they are mostly to hide yourself in roleplay so people won't recognise you or just look good to some.
