The end of the human civilization - what if

This is a what if post where I try and imagine what will be the final nail in the human coffin. All around us we can hear the chanting how the end is nigh and we all will perish soon. I watched all the scientific documentaries and doomsday prophecies by journalists and even belived that one day some huge ass comet would crash into Earth and kill us all.

I dont believe that anymore. Neither do I believe some super virus will wipe us from the face of the earth. Hawkin can believe all he wants that AI will take over and decide that humans are redundant and use us as fuel, I do not share his beliefs. Nor will zombies eat our brains and wear our skin as wedding costumes.

Imho the end will be because of us polluting the planet until it is impossible for it to sustain human life. We will soak the planet in chemicals that'll alter our DNA to the point where we'll lose our fertility. Futile attempts at artificial wombs will be made and some initial success will be achieved but in the end we will find out that it is absolutely necessary for a woman of humankind to carry and give birth.

All the medicine and chemicals flushed down toilets all over the world, factories in 'third world' countries with less strict regulations pumping unfiltered waste right out into rivers and lakes, will speed up the end of humankind. Add to this genetically modified crops that will make the landscape a biological wasteland with no other species available to clean up all our waste materials.

Our own chemical pollution will be the end of us!

I don't believe that in future, there won't be a artificial wombs. We were already succesful with cloning why not with this?

And about 'planet soaked in chemicals' thats possible. I just hope that my kids will be way luckier than me and have a chance to drive bad boy like dis.

Before we can live in space there are many many issues that needs solving. Perhaps with some genetic engineering we can modify our offspring to be able to sustain the radiation and other stress that prevents todays humans from staying any longer time outside Earths protective atmosphere.

I dont want to step on toes here but children that are brought into this life using caesarion section are weaker and less healthy than equivivalent normal births. Scientists believe that the birth canal activates the childs own processes that a c-section wont. Cloning humans will produce ... humans, but these humans wont have any protection against germs or viruses besides the standard white blood cells. There are so many advantages for the natural birth.

Also what about the clones themselves, when no one is different from the other ... what will life be worth?

"Clone 153345-aC/324 had an accident and now is immobilized for a year until its treatment is finished - conclusion: send it to recycling. Clone 153345-aC/325 can take its position". Or/and the future leaders will clone humans into casts for conducting different tasks. Today we can use our individual uniqueness as a merit, we're skilled in different areas and not easilly replaced (unless you work at the tuna factory putting cans into boxes) and even then you might have some hobby that makes you stand out.

My point is that we need to do something today, not tomorrow or burry our heads in the sand wishing for the problem to go away.
