Being able to chop helicopters has been a sore new addition lately...

Let's see what the community thinks about it.

Edited to add more options.

Forgive me but I won't add options for the lower tier helicopters, I think with the ones you mentioned the sentiment will come across fine.

My vote remains at no.

Why?

Newish people might get their heli chopped and rage quit.

People work hard for helicopters.

In my opinion they should not, atleast not the big ones. Just want to give an example my friend, the founder of Altis Airlines quit that idea because of this as he was scared that his chooper would simply just get stolen and chopped.

I think nothing should be chopshopped. Thing is, this is a SERIOUS roleplay community. So why on earth would you need a way to permanently get rid of vehicles? If I blow it up, as far as your character knows, IT'S GONE! There is no restart and getting it back in roleplay terms.

I don't believe they should be simply because there is already a huge price-tag on most helicopters, and while some of us don't think it's a whole lot of money to buy a littlebird/orca for example, the fact is that they Are expensive, and quite frankly the pay-out you get for scrapping them is a pittance compared to the effort someone went through to afford them.

A Mohawk for example scraps for 400k...

Scrapping a helicopter is more grief for the owner than it is reward for the person who chopped it.

Increasing the payout would fix this, but it would also make it a much more common occurrence.  I just don't really see the point of pulling out my helicopters anymore, I'd rather just use a vehicle that I can legally take with me everywhere I go, rather than take something that I will have to land far enough from my destination that I can't keep an eye on it, only to hear it taking off soon after.

The only folks who will be flying helicopters soon are the new folk who have yet to be robbed of them (and will more than likely rage-quit after putting in so much effort only to have it yanked away by some wanker), or the older folks who don't give a f*ck if they lose some pocket change.

...IT'S GONE! There is no restart and getting it back in roleplay terms.

...Except that in the real world people have this thing called insurance.  If someone steals my vehicle IRL I report it to my insurance company and get compensated for it, this is why I pay such a high premium for my vehicles.

Isn't this also why we pay a lot of money to take more expensive vehicles out of a garage, and less money for less expensive vehicles? it surely can't be that the garage space runs the pricetag so high... Consider more expensive vehicles aren't exactly (always) bigger than the cheaper ones?

I was always under the impression that garage fees were more than simply parking fees, the higher value vehicles require more money to pull out, every single time you pull it out, I thought that was because whenever you pull out a vehicle, you assume a great risk, and the insurance company recognizes that and taxes you for it. (commas, , , , Had a few spares)

+1 for insurance or no scrapping helicopters!

If this is a price issue, then I would like Tempest Device to be included. At £450,000, donator or not, that could put a serious hole in someone's pocket. I always thought it odd that (before the update) you could get a heavily armoured Ifrit over half the price cheaper than a mining truck.

Edit: After reading through the arguments put forth, I have changed my vote to 'No'. Good points made, and my opinion changed.

May not just be new people. Some people have no choice but to leave their heli's about and find it somewhat unfair

I don't agree with the chop shopping of vehicles, and it seems like the low return you get on chop shopping is there to deter people away from permanently removing someones vehicle as a way of income. I'm finding the same with the police having a  very relaxed attitude towards scrapping even 30 mil Hurons. What about if you can buy vehicles back/pay an impound fee once they've been chop shopped or impounded, for a portion of the price of the vehicle, it could be seen as paying your insurance and the vehicle being replaced, or you just buying the vehicle back from the dealer at a reduced price. Or in the case of being impounded, paying the fee to have your vehicle released.
