It is crashing because of the Nexus update, if you check here you will see that Wilco is talking and relaying the server logs so that BI can make a fix for it. They ahve tried a hotfix and it didn't work, so Ciaran is making sure it is all good on our end.
To answer your question, it's because of the 1.54 update. Yes they are doing something about it but it takes time.
