Scenario: VDM when under attack, OK or Not OK.

Hi guys!

I've got a scenario for you guys since i cant determine on my own if it would be OK or not.

Base story: You are on your daily weed run heading for paros when suddenly a group of 3 guys jump out in front of you starting to scream to get out of the truck and put your hands up. As you refuse to do this action and they are terrible shooters they miss you through the front windscreen and you run them over since they are standing on the road. 

Scenario 1: You stopped the vehicle since they stod on the road and then when they told you to get out of the vehicle with your hands up you run them over since you dont want to follow the order/(get robbed). OK or not?

Scenario 2: You simply run them over since they cant be blocking the road with them selves ass shields. (really uncertain about this one) OK or not?

Scenario 3: They start shooting tyres immediately upon sight and you run them over since they are blocking the road with themselves ass the obstacle. OK or not?

I am currently banned for previous misstakes(Awaiting Wilco to unban me, decided by Vladimir) And i feel like this is the area i am most uncertain about how to deal with.

VDM = Instant Ban (We have a anti VDM script however running people over for fun is banable and considered VDM)

Hmmm, IMO only intentional VDM is bannable.

You should avoid it at all costs, so if they are in the middle of the road, then try to go around.

However, if you're driving straight and someone just walks across the road that you can't avoid and you run them over, then that's not your fault, so I personally see no issue there.

 
VDM is an intentional use of your vehicle to attack someone else. Someone stepping out into the middle of the road in front of you is not VDM. You seeing people in the middle of the road and deciding to carry on anyway is VDM.

Using that as the baseline: you cannot just run them over.

 
It's very easy to spot someone who intends to VDM and someone who's accidentally VDM'd. One of my pet peeves in this game is people who drive as fast as they can up and down Kavala without any reason, it's these people who are the first to claim someone ran in front of their vehicle when they just VDM'd someone, however if you're not speeding its very easy to avoid someone in the middle of the road.

Don't get me wrong, a police chase is something completely different - if you have a reason to bring a chase into town, go ahead, be cautious, VDM is still VDM, but assholes who just speed around Kavala for no reason literally force my hand.

Very interesting scenario here. Of course we say VDM is wrong but lets look at it from the other side. Would you not say that to blantently use your body as a meat roadblock because you know of the VDM as metagaming or even bad RP since they are not valuing their own life? Personally I dislike this as much as the VDM, create your roadblock with your car which makes more sense.

Sure as hell so would I, I'd then get out and take the weapon he possessed. 

But in Altis, if a rule was implemented 'If someone is in front of you attempting to take your life, you can use your vehicle as a weapon to prevent your own death', it would be too easy to bend. People would park their cars on top of people. People would suggest random unarmed civs are about to kill them. People would use their vehicles to go into other vehicles to prevent 3 armed rebels inside. People would drive cars into police to prevent their friends being tased.

It's too much of a cluster fuck, and although this is a life game, it shouldn't need to have every little rule decided on 'what would I do in real life?'

People putting in front of your vehicle with a gun and saying get out, you literally have to get out or you will be shoot.

If you dont get out you will be shoot, if you get out you will be shoot in the same way, you have some kind of drawback when inside of a vehicle because you cant put yourself in a self defense position.

If you get out of vehicle you will probably get knockout and robbed, or killed and robbed without any chance of defense. If you try to run away with your vehicle so you can leave that situation or even try to position you vehicle better so you can get out of it in a better defense position you will be shoot in the face or in the tires as soon as you move you vehicle 2 feets away.

So if you get stopped by anyone you cant properly defend yourself because you are between the wall and the sword, or between the shooter and the VDM rule.

Yet if VDM is allowed this will be like Carmageddon.

But in these days i see people doing more and more and even doing reports from VDM like camping on traders or near, step out of the vehicle, bang bang bang in the tires give me your money or you will be shoot. What kind of defense i can have when taking my truck out of a drug dealer if 2 guys step in front of it an make me get out of it?


This video is from a report posted recently, get out of the car .. bang bang bang ... what kind of defense you can get here ? If you VDM him trying to save your stuff you will be banned, if you step out of the vehicle you will be knocked out and robbed lol 

I think VDM should be reviewed and well analysed in some reports and allowed in some situations. In that video the reporter only got VDM because he putted in front of vehicle on purpose lol 

Its hard this one, maybe VDM rule can have some kind of exceptions dont know, but this kind of thing in not cool to because people are doing their work and trying to live and robbers dont work anymore, just camp on drug dealers and bang bang bang give me your ezzz money.

I think you have to remember as well that drugs are the end game. Altis wasn't intended for you to grab a HEMTT and be a cocaine king ping within a day. If you can't risk being robbed, don't do valuable drugs when you haven't got a gang behind you.

I guess the way I see it, is that if you can't afford to lose 1.3 mil of drugs because you're a lone wolf trying to make a lot of cash, don't be a lone wolf trying to make a lot of cash.

My general rule of thumb for Kavala is follow the speed limit of 30Km/h through the area near the greenzone. If you are doing the speedlimit and some pillock insists on walking out infront of you. That's their lookout. There are many trolls who intentionally step out infront of you in Kavala to cry VDM. I think the term is Force VDM.

If you were flying through the Town in a HEMTT doing 90Km/h then that is a clear case of Dangerous Driving and VDM. However even that can have it's exceptions in rare cases.

It seems to be more people using Hatchback sports than any other vehicle. It's just an absolute nuisance.

Yeah i know, but for example that guy is playing alone and doing iron, not everybody has a team, or everybody only play when team is present.

Some poor bastards cant even do some apples because always appear 2 guys heavy equipped only because the pleasure of rob.

But, yeah robbery is a part of the game to, the only problem i see here is these days nobody works anymore, everybody is turning to robbery. Economy in Altis are mostly moved by guys like that poor bastard that are only trying to do their work without any confusions.

Do some work, earn some money, and get home, although these days Altis is a jungle, you cant even work honest anymore, because doing apples or doing iron, weed or cocain you will probably be robed.

So in this kind of cases of this poor bastards that don't can have a team or work alone the VDM reports should be at least reviewed with more compliance because they are the unprotected ones, and they where only trying to do their jobs.

When i play alone, if i make a run, i take my Zamak and go in my pants because ill probably get robbed and lose everything because its very hard to defend or put in a kind of defensive situation when you are inside a vehicle and have a guy with a gun pointed to you.

In that situations i only see 2 chances: being robbed or being reported for VDM, thats why when im alone i do runs on my zamak only in pants :)

I only read half of this because I'm sick of using my phone!

If anyone is robbing people at the Apple, Peach, oil or even camping certain spots, all they'll need to do is call PLF and we would happily clear the area of petty scum.
