Rule check - How to act

Hi

So, I'm relatively new to the server and died a few minutes ago because I wasn't sure how to act in a situation in fear of breaking the rules. I was inside a house, my friend outside with a sports hatchback, a guy ran up to him, and tried to hold him up, he knew i was there, but didn't know I was armed. At this point, i just ran upstairs trying to work out if i was allowed to fight him, I'd not said anything, but surely it'd be self defense at that point? 

I was just wondering, if someone attempts to hold you/a friend up, is it rdm, to pull a gun out and shoot without saying anything?

In the end the guys friend walked inside and just gunned me down unarmed

Either you or your friend would have to warn him before you fired really.

If he directly threatened your life, i.e. Do X or I'll kill you.. then you can defend yourself without speaking.

But since it happened to your friend, you technically would have to warn him to stop or he'd be shot beforehand.

He told my friend, to tell me, to come outside, or he'd kill my friend. what do i do in that situation?

Hmmm.... personally, in my opinion I would say RP has been engaged enough that you'd have the right to defend your friend.

He's threatened your friends life, and he's aware of your presence, so I'd say defending your friends life would be okay here.

This is one of those really grey areas to be honest... but suffice to say, if your not sure, then always say something to him just as a warning, and if he doesn't comply then do whatever you need to do.

yeah, alright, the problem would be i wouldn't want him to be aware i was armed, for obvious reasons ^^
