Reporting system

I am having a hard time understand the reporting and compensation system. The way it works currently is that the one who made a mistake no matter how serious offers the victims of rulebreak compensation. Afterwards the offender is free to go and nothing has happened. The offender could potentially go out and break more rules and keep compensating people. So then they keep doing borderline stuff as long as they offer compensation to everybody they kill? Because that is the way it seems to work. I realise it is taking it extreme, but I believe you understand what I mean.

If you do decide to report people without resolving the report will be almost instantly denied and you will not be look at happily afterwards. And if you decide to report people after they have given you compensation you risk being called out for wanting people to get banned.

When are you allowed to report people even after they offered compensation?

Are you even allowed to do so?

What happens if you do report people without resolving?

What happens if you do report people after being offered compensation?

Can you be banned for reporting people without resolving?

Can you be banned for reporting people after being offered compensation?

Have I completely misunderstood the system?

I have been wondering about this for a long time. I find myself in a position often where I want to report people because I believe the offense was too serious to be resolved with compensation or that the rulebreaker simply does not understand what he did wrong, but he still offered you compensation. I hope somebody can tell me how the system is supposed to work and its politics. I feel people are able to get away with a lot of stuff that they should not be able to.

You should only (IN MY OPINION) Report people if you feel that the rule break they did was genuinely a mistake, if they did it on purpose and offer compensation, tell them that breaking a rule then offering comp to not get banned is silly and report them.

The Report a player option is there if you are NOT happy that they broke a rule and are NOT convinced that they WON'T do it again. Even if they offer compensation it's up to YOUR digression if you decide that they won't break that rule again. If you think that they won't do it again take the compensation and leave it at that.

Obviously mistakes happen however you can tell an accident from something that is purposeful. Some people use the report a player section wrongfully and see it as something they can use over other people. The idea is that it is just there to stop rule breakers from carrying on their reign of poor experiences.

If you have "resolved" the situation but aren't happy that they won't do it again - the question says "have you attempted to resolve" so you don't have to agree with their resolution necessarily. As you picked up on, it is generally considered poor form to report someone after it was discussed on teamspeak but in some cases I think people in the past have thrown around their large money pools as a way to override the server rules so sometimes it HAS to be possible to report them anyway.

Use your best judgement and try to be fair to someone who legitimately made a mistake and won't do it again!
