Remember when Dayz standalone was developed from Arma 2? (Identity)

Well just have a look at this bad boy.

This my friends is a Canadian companies idea to develop the Arma 3 life mods into a standalone game called Identity. I see some potential but then again I saw it in Dayz and, like most of us, have been let down.

What do you guys think?

Yeah saw it on kickstarter seems interesting, pity its only got a fraction of its backing.

Looks like its got tones of potential but so did Dayz SA and look how that turned out, and "let down" that's an understatement for Dayz  SA ^^

It looks stunning but I can't stand Rhinocrunch. The guy is a cunt who shouts "Get REKT" pretty much constantly and claims to love RP but if you go through his vids he has plenty with disabled comments where he is disconnecting to avoid arrest, breaking rules and being a total prick. He is a nob.

I don't for one second believe that Altislife SA will look or run that great though. SA is still a half finished project... By jove it would be nice if it did happen though.

Like many Kickstarter projects, the concept can be fantastic, what they currently show 'ingame' can look good, but at the end of it all, it's not what you'll expect after a while of development. What puts me right off is the fact that on the Kickstarter video you can see it says "Temporary placeholder art assets shown.", meaning that what you see will definitely not be what you get, which of course is what you end up expecting just to be shot down further down the line.

But, after many, many poor Early Access/Kickstarters I don't invest in them anymore unless there is concrete proof that what you see is what you'll get, or pretty damn close to it.

ahh Rhinocrunch, everything thats wrong with the arma community

It's using the unreal engine which is interesting, I wonder how big a gamespace that engine can actually use. On top of that they'll have to design all the assets themselves, including the map. That's a big ask considering Altis Life is based on ArmA 3 which cost a hell of a lot more money than $150,000.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me, but I'm just an old cynic (not as old as you though Vlad ha!)

I would prefer to see massive backend work to be able to support upward of 400 players on 1 instance of the game on a world as large as the one 1 in arma.

I don't really care much for pretty graphics, yes I enjoy them, but i dont need them to become immersed within the game and my role within it.

I'd love an Altis Life Standalone that has great graphics, brilliant FPS, and magical unicorns with flying pigs too.

OK it looks like the unreal engine is definitely capable of being used in all the ways mentioned and is currently the engine for several MMOs in development (which suggests it can easily handle 400 players or even 1000's, with the necessary back-end architecture, which for an MMO is formidable).

But it still looks utterly unlikely they'll be able to get a game - even to a steam early access level of polish - out of the gate on that kind of budget.

I do enjoy watching an underdog though, so I'll donate to the kickstarter and see what happens!

Its being developed by Asylum Entertainments, are those also owners of the famous Altis life servers Asylum? or just a coincidence?

Are u right with the Title ?

I Remember when Dayz "mod" was developed from Arma 2.

And when Arma 3 came out they took the Arma 3 base code for the DayZ SA or i am wroong ? "confused"

As I understand it, DayZ SA was based on the Take on Helicopters engine, which itself is a fork of the Real Virtuality engine (which all ArmA games are run on) and then moved over to the Enfusion engine, which appears to be some heavily customized version of the Real Virtuality engine.
