Random FPS drops

So I've been having an issue where at random points my FPS drops down from 60+ to about 10-20. It's really annoying when I'm driving or in combat because I often end up dying.
But after 2-5 minutes after the FPS drop starts, my FPS gets back to normal.
Its only in Arma that I've experienced it.  So if you have any idea how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.

So it's not client side, but something with arma itself?
Not 100% sure, whenever you load into arma it has FPS drops like ive never seen anywhere else. The random FPS drops are pretty much untraceable, it depends where you are on the map depending on if it is  a highly populated part of the map. Also places like the airport where there a lot of vehicles spooling up and kicking dust of is a cause of FPS drops.

So after having the issue in other games, I tried to turn Wallpaper Engine off. For now, it works good, without any FPS drop.
@Ryy dunno if that's gonna help you. But it works for me.

Arma 3 is cancerously shit at being optimised, for example DAYZ SA that is still in alpha has better optimisation.

This server does give off pretty bad FPS, but it literally is by chance, arma is a bitch, you gotta learn to control it.

I never ever ever had a problem with arma. My game looks amazing. After a Windows 10 update it went too shit.

Without knowing your computer specs it's hard to come to a direct diagnosis. However, what you appear to be describing is jolting, otherwise known as a sudden FPS drop. This is caused because of the stress caused on the CPU.

Because Arma, is porly optimised when it comes to GPU usage, the CPU and RAM get hammered pretty hard (more so the CPU). What you should look into getting if you haven't already is a SSD (Solid State Drive) you can pick them up for around £20-30 (depending on the size you want) An SSD runs a lot faster than a standard Harddrive.

Seeing as you're only experiencing the issue throughout gun fights (and perhaps when you're driving) it sounds like it's down to entity rendering. A SSD should eliminate this issue or minimise it at worst.

The Intel Core i5 series is the best for Arma gaming. The i7's are good too, but they mostly focus on Hyperthreading which isn't made in much use with Arma (but they will help if you have a tendency to Stream + Record)

Also, as a side note. 10GB+ of RAM will also help you out (I have 16GB 1800mHz)

You would benefit from having a CPU, GPU and RAM usage monitor running to see what maybe bottlenecking.

Hope I could help, if you need anything else. Send me a PM/reply.

Kind Regards,
