Question for all the bounty hunters out there

I'm a new bounty hunter, and I'm having kind of a hard time with it, trying to manage without metagaming.

So the question I have is how do YOU capture your bounties? How do you RP it?

Heres something hot off the press pasted from there :)

7C) Bounty hunters may not metagame (see metagaming rules - Punishments apply), You must use role play to ask for the persons name if may not be truthful to you due to your uniform however we will list some of many possibilities of roleplaying this below.

  • Hire a civilian friend or recruit some hobos to approach people to ask their name
  • Ask the person to kindly stay there while you call the police to where you are or ask if they will come to the police station with you if you have reason to believe they are not who they say they are (nervous voice/acting shady) however do not restrain them for this.
  • Follow them until you hear them say there name to someone or someone call them there name
  • Speak to civilians if they have seen or spoke to  “Player X” today and there last location

If tags were off by default then these 'homing missile' bounty hunters would have to roleplay a lot more.

I completely agree. I've started playing with tags turned off so I don't give in to the temptation of metagaming.

I believe he was within his rights.

I was on a balcony (and really was just robbed) and I did act very shifty. Then I was taking the piss (or trying to) for at least 10 minutes before we moved on to the police to sort it out. Personally I got a lot out of it and although I started to flap a bit at the end (he missed me mention heroin multiple times) it was enjoyable. What made me laugh is, shortly after he let us go he pulled past us in his truck and my friend turns to me and said "if he stops us I'm going to shoot him" and I just started laughing. What a horrible ending that would have been. xD

The issue is, most people don't take being questioned by a BH as well as you did in the video. Almost everyone I've dealt with has refused to give me a name, or threaten to call the police if I don't leave them alone, and then I don't really know what to do.

That's unfortunate as I really enjoyed our interaction (from the video).

One thing I've learned from my day with that gent is that he continually applies pressure, remains very friendly, offers to compensate, and sticks to me like glue. Similarly, there were many points he tried to catch me out on "so you think kai is good looking?" There was a few points he could have caught me on (my friend coming in and saying "hi Kai!" was the most obvious, but t I try to repeat myself frequently so I do all the talking and that may have been filtered out for him.

Some of that fits in with the above post about rules. It's a tough job you certainly have my respect after my own run-in. :p

Apart from this dude. I love my maw.
