Question about bounty hunting, regarding metagaming.

Hey there guys, just before I begin I'd like to let everyone know I have utilized the search function but I have returned with no results about my question.

I recently purchased a bounty hunter license and before I begin I'd like to be clear on the system. So we have this list of people who have active bounties, I would assume in-characterly it would have each person's details, description and photos. Now, if I find someone who is on the system out-and-about, I could ask the person to stop and tell them they're matching the description of someone who has an active bounty and request their name. Would you agree that would have been roleplayed out correctly? Since most of the posts I have seen about bounty hunting, people feel that what I'm saying would be classed as metagaming.

Could anyone clear this up and tell me if this method would be okay to put into practice? Thanks for any help in advance, have a good day!

You dont get any visual info. on the suspect, so you cant make that up. Meta... I know its hard...

Hey Vento, I appreciate the reply greatly. I assumed in-characterly that all that information like their photo and description is already known due to their name being put onto the list, I mean if someone has a bounty placed, surely all that information is known in most cases? If I'm correct, when a bounty is released onto someone, all their information is distributed to bounty hunting agencies so they can do the footwork to return the person back into police custody.
Would the playerbase still consider this metagaming?

I think the majority of people consider this meta-gaming especially to those who have the bounty so i would suggest asking random people what their name is and eventually you will find a person with a bounty.

Hmm that doesn't really seem like a good way to roleplay it out in my opinion. Can you read what I replied to Vento about, would you still consider that metagaming?

Imo the bounty hunter licence is just a really expensive outfit and the whole concept needs to be reworked.

Dont waste your money on it.

I completely agree with you, simply going up to someone and asking for their name doesn't seem like a great way to roleplay out as a bounty hunter. The role has so much potential but for some reason people feel that everything you do it metagame, it would be grand to have someone from the administration team to clear this up.

Most players will cry if you do that and they have a little bit of reason :)

Best way to hunt?

Wait for shit to go down, sneak in, Taze the suspect, interrogate, take him to Poilice HQ for good RP

*fifty

Hey again Vento, it's a shame people class it as metagaming. The way bounty hunters operate at the moment are just like Police, we shouldn't be finding people committing crime, we need to be capturing people with bounties, but sadly it seems like the only way to bounty hunt. The bounty hunter system is something which really needs to be worked on, again, it'd be nice to get a word of someone from the administration team. Going around asking for peoples names just doesn't seem like a great way to roleplay.
