The Mandalorian wars happened a few years before this movie was set, Meetra was exiled shortly after this the same timeline as Darth Revan, the sabre shown in the trailier is a varient of Darth Revan's Lightsabre i.e it's him, sit down you filthy casual ;P

This movie is the aftermath of Star Wars 1-6.
The mandalorian wars are WAAAAAAAAY back in the past with the Old Republic. Back when Malachor V was still a planet.

Also one of the only variants of that type of saber to exist on a character is Denaar from JK:JO.

So explain this to me. If these movies are set a few years after the Mandalorian Wars. WHY are Luke, Leia and Han in this movie. When they are not even born yet?

More evidence to this is the fact that Revan is born in 3994 BBY. Where as Luke was born in 19 BBY (Similar to BC/AD.)

 
You guys realize JJ Abrams is ignoring anything that happened in the extended universe right? They are going off the official canon of the 6 movies and the Clone Wars TV show.

Actually.........Revan found the sith empire in hiding, tried to kill the emperor withe the help of lord scourge and the exile, failed, was imprisoned,was then realesed by a strike team,and supposedly killed by another strike team,he then popped out again to guide the revanites against both the sith empire and the galactic republic(the story it's not yet concluded) see this for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga46ILw7iaY , throught the entire expired universe a nuber of characters have reached immortality, and altought i think aswell that reava is unlikley to be the villain he still belongs to the canon(not all the EU was removed), so it would be unlikley for him to be the villain but not impossible
