Police crushing stolen vehicles

Bit of an odd one but it happened to me last night so I figured I'd ask. Before I go on though, please don't think this is a complaint, just a query.

I had my truck stolen and the police must have ran into the thieves, they then detained/killed them (I have no idea) and found the truck to be full of weed. The police officer told me they sent it to the crusher as it was not reported stolen, the driver shot at them and it contained copious amounts of mary jane. Which is an understandable action.

My question is:  If someone has taken your communications and then stolen your truck leaving you in the middle of nowhere, there is no way to warn the police its stolen or stop it being crushed without breaking RP. Is there no way of avoiding this?

The truck is nothing money but I'm imagining this happening to a new player doing copper/oil and having their vehicle stolen and used for drugs or crimes, or potentially to a huron for the wealthier players.

(In the end I made my way to a fuel station and called a cab. But during this time my vehicle was crushed. Quality RP all round btw guys big thumbs up!)

The police should of checked the name of the suspect to the owner of the vehicle and if there were different the cops would ask and he probs said "its my mates truck". You should try and get a lift or trying to get to a phone box to report the truck stolen

Well lets say its a race against the clock for you to notify the Police that it has been hijacked, unfortunaly you cant break RP to notify that your vehicle has been stolen.
