Police and RP in general

BEFOR I START sorry for my poor english writing, i know it sucks x) but trust me bether then google translate ( or not ) 

Police - i just got back to the server afther a brake and i notice somthing i find wierd : 

they use balaclavas and hide their face
 

they always have rifle on back. ( i have yet to see a taser ) 

Speed limit is never a problem couse everyone speeds even the cops

tickets i see maybe 1 - 2 guys get in a 8 houer played session but i do see loads geting shoot.

why is that ? i tryed rp with the cops and ill be honest they dont seem to care and is more in it for the shooting then the rp ? when i was a cop there was a question " whats your best weapon ? " 
answer was your voice. i dont feel like thats the way its been when i have police interactions, i feel like its being gun down and then ressed to go to the police HQ to get striped minimum of communication there too then be shipt of to jail.

when i call in a crime i get 0 replay, i tryed it 3 diffrent times where i say where loads of rebels are and they dont seem to care, rather they avoid it and keep going for the roberyes around at the bank if that happends couse its shooting involved.

i see rebels going with guns on them at the main airport and i see cops there rearly and when they are there they ignore everything couse its a green zone.

is the rules that mutch changed to where rebels can wear guns everywhere and only when its shooting you lose em ? speedlimits are out of the question  ? 

random pullovers for RP about licenses and who owns the car ? 

i miss the RP the cops can give me, im not saying all do it but my 4 days back on the server this is where im at. i been going solo and in grps.

i done prob 20 - 30 diamonds runs and done 1 bank robery 3 kidnapings and loads of random shit but never had more then 5 min talk with a cop. 

im sorry if this looks negative im just wondering if its only me being unlucky ? or in general this is how it is ?

Nowadays the standards of the servers (Arma 3) RP has dramatically dropped from 1 to 2 years ago. Cops have adopted a more aggressive way of approaching and dealing with most situations as the majority of people we come in contact with are hostile/aggressive towards us. Yes maybe a year ago you could use your voice as a weapon but now you will need an MK1 or higher to be able to make an impact on the server with the way most gangs/rebels Roleplaybut as always there are good RPers on every side and they are just buried under a large number of shit ones.

This is you being unlucky mate. Yes speedlimits nobody cares about but we still roleplay alot. The replies thats because bank robberies have higher priority but we dont always go there for shooting mate ive been to atleast 4 from the 10 bankrobberies where a gunfight broke out and we do respond but it depends if they're cops not doing anything. AR,NCA and SPG hide there face because they're special units who when regonised may be targeted so they do it to protect themselfs against not getting targeted. Sometimes we pull random people over yes but dont they do it IRL so i dont see the problem right there as that can just happen. We have rifles as if u look at the people they have MK18's and stuff which are high caliber goodluck with ur taser/voice not getting ur head get blast off by a 7,62. At airport its a greenzone and yes sometimes we do take it off them but they cant do anything to protect themselves so in my eyes its powergaming at that point to do that and a bit scummy.

At the end of the day its just you being unlucky and we get in gunfights that much because 9/10 times rebels want that so yeah just keep looking for that RP and it also depends what YOU do as if ur robbing a fuel station and give a story that has been giving like 500 times already like "im repairing the alarm" we get that all the time so most of us cant be bothered (not saying u need to give low and less RP but it still happens cause of that)

ok ty for a replay, quite sad couse befor when you played as a rebel you where scared of losing ur weapon ur truck and ur equipment, from reading the replays i gotn it sounds like the cash flow is broken as it turns out ppl aint afraid of losing loadouts anymore.

and if its like they hide their faces couse their special  ( ar nca spg ) it looks like rebels comming out of the car tbh x) 

i dont know i feel like the server need a wipe and a restart x) so ppl are scared of the police and not the other way. 

also as diamonds is the best pay way to get money its quite sad, as its allowed ( coke / weed etc pays lower then diamonds when u have traits also faster and easier ) 

maybe its just me missing the old glory days who knows

Sadly some officers do this, but this is mainly done by the main specialised units, such as NCA to ensure their identify is secure. Normal officers on patrol aren't mean to conceal their faces unless necessary.

A tazer sits in the side holster, not on their back, and we use them both appropriately depending on the ongoing scenario. I am unsure if you mean that we use lethals too much, or that we don't carry our tazers on the back, but we are always equipped with both!

We do pull over people for speeding, but there are often high priority crime ongoing which requires us to respond quickly. I am happy to admit cops often speed, and sometimes it is justified, sadly sometimes it is not.

There are plenty of tickets being issued still, perhaps it was just a slow day. There are often gunfights as when we try to apprehend people to issue said tickets, people are not keen on being apprehended!

Sadly, the roleplay standard has significantly dropped, as mentioned previously by other people. The server absolutely is not what there used to be - We still have great cops who provides extensive roleplay, but sadly all do not. However, Don't be afraid to apply to the service and be the change that you want to see! There will always be indidivudals on the poorer side, I hope you have the pleasure of finding some of our better officers!

damn ty for ur answer Riz, im awear of where the taser are, but for some reason the first weapon they pull out is the AR ( walking with it in hands or on back ) BEFOR like i said i just got back, the rifle would always be in the trunk of the car and only taser on hand, but like i said i think its to mutch cash flow ( 800 k + 1 diamond run guns cost 80 - 120 k ) and ppl aint scared of their gear / cars anymore ppl seem to care less and it might be wrrong but ill just belive thats the reason x)

We have rubbers for our rifles that are non-lethal, which are quickly changeable to lethals if the situation calls for it, see it as an added sense of security. Rebels are a lot more dangerous nowdays than they used to be back in the day!

aye agreed  i hope the police get their power back sone where they will be respected and speedlimits will be held and when u get stoped you can feel a small pain in ut chest cooking a story about what u doing and what ur transporting to not give you guys a reason to sertch my truck full of coke x)

Due to the nature of Altis, having a lot of rebel activity it's often best practice to have a firearm atleast on your back. This is incase you were to suddenly require your firearm for any situation. Consider it like a firearm on a sling.

A traditional "gun in car" experience would be for the more realistic FiveM server, which aims to replicate real life policing.

I will try and give you, my personal take on take on this, and answer some of your questions

Only a few officers wear face coverings. These are reserved for Specialist units such as NCA, AR and the Specialist protection group. This is to conceal our identities whilst on opperations, due to the nature of the role we are more likely to be targeted if our identity was known.

Every single officer carries a taser (It looks like a pistol, but it is a taser). We need to carry a non lethal option on us at all times. This could be a rubber bullet gun, or a taser.
We carry guns on our backs because that's how Arma 3 works. Hopefully Arma 4 has more options as to how you carry your guns.

A lot of people do speed, and while i agree with you it's not great for RP. You can see from a player perspective how it would be absolutely boring to stick to the speed limit in a video game. If i wanted to be stuck in traffic for 2 hours, i'd go outside and drive on the A127.

I disagree with you on the number of tickets given out. Over 100 tickets are given out a day, easily. We ticket for Illegal guns, Ammo, Speeding, Dangerous driving, theft, abuse and more. Maybe you are not noticing enough, but i assure you, we give out pleanty of tickets. Just ask the rebels



Some people in the community do prefer combat over RP. And that's an issue on every single RP server, both on Arma, and other games. Our staff team does its best to weed out the people that don't roleplay to a high standard. If you feel that someone hasn't given you sufficient roleplay, then you can report them.




I believe your view on the Police is negative. Would you be willing to let me take you on a Ride Along? That way you can see first hand how we deal with situations and how we deal with people? If you're on at any point today send me a message with your in game name and i will meet you and show you what we do.

Altis is a very violent Island. Yes, there's lots of combat. But that's Altis life. We are the best community for Roleplay and the majority of us strive to give a good experience.

@Sondred  As Jayray said your perception of the police is that of 1 to 2 years ago when RP was more common than gunfights and as I have said the server has changed and many of the people that I would run into would rather have a gunfight than RP so my overall style of patroling would be extremely cautious. Of course, this does then mean that I arrive on some scenes looking a bit like Rambo but for every 2 RP scenarios I deal with I would deal with 5 to 6 more gunfights in-between. I encourage you to take @Jayray Holder's offer of a police ride-along just so you can see first hand what a normal patrol may deal with on a 2 to 4-hour session.

Took MR Soundred on a 2 Hour long police patrol

Showed him Police precedures. Attended traffic stops, firefights and more.

Hello, so i had a lovely time with Jayray, it was fun and all, and he answered all my question and yea was a good.

I see the server changed alot and so have the police.

The RP of Jayray is really good and fun, i see iv been unluckey with who i have encountered!

anyways we drove around talked alot and did alot of diffrent stuff and i see the point of what he has writen here, and changed my mine the problem is not with the police nor the rebels.

the problem in my humble opinon ( 5 days back ) is the way u get money and gear, currently 1 diamond run gone cost you : 75k military licens - weapon and kit 50 k - truck 275k 

you gain with traits over 800 k. its easy to get money and gear aint worth mutch, so the rp and all will be from there couse ppl dont care about it. i can be completle wrrong but thats my opinion, when you dont care the cops dont care and it will be less rp and more shooting.

then againe you have players like 2 guys we pulled over and they did RP their hearths out like it was gr8, then we meet ppl who started with calling the Jay some nasty words, but hey its all part of the game i guess fun was it anyways! and if u want good rp you prob have the best chance as a whitelisted person!
