In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.
I was banned because I decided to leave the server while in a roleplay situation with two rebels where I was being held hostage. Since I left during a roleplay situation, it is considered combat logging. And is exploitation of the game, because if you were to treat the game like real life, you simply can't disappear while something is happening.
What have you been upto in the last 6 months+ ?
Since I was banned over a year ago, I've been roleplaying in a few other communities in other Arma servers or other games overall. I was also in university, followed by a full-time job.
Why do you want to return ?
During my time in other communities, I constantly wished I could come back to this community because it valued actual roleplay over combat. I also have missed the friends I made in this server, as I was unable to play with them due to being banned.
Why should we unban you ?
I think you should unban me not only because I not only recognize the error in my previous actions, but I feel as if I was treated unfairly. Not only by the people I was roleplaying with, but by the staff that as online at the time, and the staff that handled my previous appeal. I understand the severity of my leaving mid-roleplay. And I acknowledge the consequences of said actions. But I feel as if I should've been met with more understanding and rationality from all parties.
In my previous report, I pointed out I made an in-game staff request because I had to log off. An admin (Roberts) did come to the situation shortly after I sent the message, but refused to help me and instead disappeared again after joking around with the rebels (Caboose and Whongcheng, I believe their names were). As previously stated, he talked to the rebels and checked their inventories, but payed no attention to me and refused to acknowledge my request when I spoke in-game, in roleplay, about needing to leave. To add salt to the wound, Roberts was the admin who banned me for leaving. Despite trying to get his help in the first place.
There's some details I left out of the previous appeal to keep my real life more private. But I am a full-time caregiver for my grandmother. Her needing help with her medication was the reason I had to leave in a quick manner. This is why I claimed I was going to bed in the side chat. As I felt I shouldn't have to disclose real-life matters to be able to log off of a game. In my previous appeal when I tried to explain this, I was called a liar by a staff member. Which was really disheartening and stopped me from trying to appeal again, until now. Over a year later.
Another thing I should point out is that I was taken hostage by the same two rebels before the situation I was banned for.
In my first encounter with them before my ban, rather than roleplay with me, it turned into a half an hour of being restrained in-game and being constantly taunted and harassed by them. Making disgusting remarks about what they would do to me. They even roleplayed sexual advancements or pissing on me for fun. I refused to speak to them in roleplay as I was very uncomfortable with the situation. As it was very inappropriate and sexual in nature. One of the rebels, Whongcheng, typed in side-chat "//nice roleplay.....". Again, this is very disheartening and prevented me from wanting to appeal. Hence why I put in-game, "//Only reason I havent left is because it would be combat logging lmao" and "//Refusing to speak is an option sry".
I would also like to mention, as I was new to roleplaying on Arma 3, I had no recording software, nor did I have access to TeamSpeak 3 because the program wasn't working at the time. Evidence of this is available in the previous appeal.
I did everything in my power at the time of my ban, but was met with no mercy from the staff that handled my appeal as a new member, first time offender, and first-time roleplayer.
During my time in other communities, I've never been banned. And I'm also able to settle any conflict that arises with other members. So there's little to no possibility of me breaking the rules again if you do decide to let me rejoin the community.
