I sent a lag switch to a friend through a police folder rather than just on my private drive
What have you been upto in the last 6 months+ ?
Not been 6 months, putting an appeal in sooner rather than later because nothing was done maliciously and seen some lucky people be allowed to skip their 6 month wait time especially with non-malicious situations
Why do you want to return ?
First I'd like to address the ban itself:
I was basically banned for using cheats on the server, which I've never done and will never do in the future. What I did was really fucking stupid, in fact so stupid I'm pretty damn embarrassed about it as I should be. I have used lag switches before on arma but only on private servers with people who knew I was doing it when we were messing around and with people I knew, as well as occasionally king of the hill when people are using noob zafirs and looking through the floor (I've had this for ages so if I were using it on RPUK I would have long ago been reported and banned as a result). I had planned to send the file to a friend of mine for the same reason, but obviously I had accidentally put it in the wrong folder resulting in the ban as I had given the impression to staff members that I was using it on the server which is fair enough, all I can say to this point is that it could be spotted from a mile away if I am using one and the person who I intended to give it to had the same plans as me on using it (i.e. on private servers with friends only or on completely unrelated servers where people were being dicks). Just like a lot of people DPI, look through the floor, and lag switch on team deathmatch, king of the hill etc. I had done something similar and was banned as a result of sharing it with a friend - every computer has the ability to lag switch by default, but I had it in the form of a file making it easier to use which might make staff think that I was using it on the server which couldn't be further from the truth (I'm literally using 3G from my phone and tethering it through a 3m cable to my PC - lag switching on a server which has relatively low ping 'limits' would probably have me kicked straight away automatically).
On RPUK I have met so many great people, many of whom I will continue to talk to/play with regardless of if I get unbanned as I was only banned in-game, however I hope to be given the opportunity to dedicate my time again on the server especially within the police force where believe I was doing good work and received a lot of positive feedback as a result of that.
Why should we unban you ?
When I was here I feel as if I was a very positive contributor to the community through many different aspects. For example, after joining the police force around 3 months ago I've been progressing steadily and joined my first specialised unit which trusted me with helping test a new addition (undercover permit within NCA) which was pretty much pure roleplay, doing stuff such as infiltrating smaller gangs for as much as a restart - I had just recently applied for academy where I had hoped to train newer officers and make sure they didn't make stupid mistakes like I had. Anyone who'se patrolled with me can hopefully vouch and talk about my attitude to everything and how laid back I was. Even before that, I was part of the Battledroids (where pretty much all UNMC people went to after it disbanded) whose direction I wasn't pleased with resulting in me joining the police force after a week or two. Before that, I was part of TCK for over a year where I eventually ended up doing recruitment etc. - in game I really don;t think I was doing much wrong, I had a few hiccups here and there but I was really trying to get the best scenarios for all people involved while keeping things light hearted in roleplay and out (I'm barely ever serious). I was even in the process of making a website for the police (https://arni.site/police/) to add to my glorious list of RPUK websites (although it probably would have ended up being a mockup more than anything as I doubt it would have gotten approved - I haven't shown it to many people yet, including police command). Speaking of which, I made a tonne of websites for RPUK (who knew) - after making my first ever website (my first stats page) I actually found that I really enjoyed making these sites, to the point where I made a tonne over the last few months for this website as I find it easy to get inspiration from things that me and my friends find passion in, and knowing full well that if I had to use these tools then someone else would probably find a use for them too (I've made well over 7 sites now for this server).
All in all, after putting so much time and effort into this server I find it difficult to say that it would have been logical for me to use a lag switch to better myself in combat scenarios on RPUK especially considering how easy it is to catch someone lag switching (I'll be surprised if you can even find one person to CLAIM to have even seen me lag switching on this server).
Although I wasn't banned for it, I can also see how this may have been an instance of someone 'encouraging another player to break rules', however as I said from knowing this person for a while and from what we spoke about this tool was going to be used non maliciously and between friends - if they had used it on RPUK then I would have taken 100% responsibility for a similar ban.
