New processor and Mobo!

So im thinking of getting a new processor and motherboard and looking to keep my current ram!

I have DDR3 2x AMD gamer, 2133mhz 16gb!

Can i get a skylake processor and mobo with the ram, or do i get a 4790k?

I'm on 4790K, get about 25-30 fps in Kavala on a full server while recording in HD. Can easily expect 40-70 frames without recording. I'd recommend it

4790k all the way @Farmer Giles get a good mobo while you're at it.

Performance/OC ifference between Skylake and Devils Canyon isn't massive, and while DDR3 is compatible - it can damage and eventually destroy the Skylake CPU.

@DainMK You only get 25-30 recording? What are you using to record? I get 60+ all the time with a 4790k using shadowplay to record from the GPU framebuffer.

Ah probably where I'm going wrong, I'm on Mirillis Action, old habit rather than smart thinking perhaps. Any idea if there's significant advantage in Action? @Zeito

Never heard of Mirillis, What GPU are you using @DainMK? The definite advantage to ShadowPlay is it uses the GPU to do the recording direct from its b uffer and the transcoding, so theres no CPU impact!

@DainMK They support shadow play, I highly recommend you set it up. You can record as you wish, or record the last 5, 10, 15, 20 mins of game play to catch something that happened such as sweet kills, rule breakers, all that jazz. It also supports streaming to twitch if that's your thing.

As I've mentioned it used the GPU framebuffer and cores to do the recording and transcoding directly so there is minimal CPU impact. It will pick up all game and voice audio, or you can key the audio to PTT (for your ingame VON key) so it doesnt pick up heavy breathing and OOC swears.

Sorry for the thread Hijack by the by.

p.s. I now totally want a forum title of official tech expert :D
